this map seems to be coming along nicely, my only suggestion is tone down the amount of grass, you're using too much of it. Are these maps just for the purpose of making maps? Or are these for a game?

It's huuuge. I really like the beach. It would be really line if until almost half of the picture, there would be a set of really interesting islands (have you ever played digimon world DS? there is a great example of this there)

Thanks. I haven't played digimon world ds but I'm not sure yet what I will do with all the water. There may be routes and litte islands, but I don't have a fixed picture in my mind.

But what exactly do you mean with more detail? More grass or trees? Something else?

Think of the player there, not seeing the whole map, and several routes really similar. He would just be walking there, no feeling of advance and nothing to distract the eyes (like trees etc.). Remember how lost you were on the sea routes of ruby and sapphire? Things like that.  Try put more things the player could interact with, and fill more space.

Example: www.deviantart.com/art/Route-3… here the guy just used grass, but made the player go around things. Imagine now if there would be bridges and stairs from higher lands and all. Just an example.

I'm glad I helped Deserts are hard to manage (game freak didn't do a good example either).

So take example of other kinds of landscapes:
siraquakip.deviantart.com/art/… Imagine higher rocks where you walk in.
siraquakip.deviantart.com/art/… Just imagine if fortree was bigger (like sunyhore fc03.deviantart.net/fs41/f/200… , it was damn fun! Pokemon Raptor almost did it right (the city was too small).

No true need to be a town or anything, but a couple of houses there would be a good way to distract the player from the nothingness of the desert.
They could be doing something else there, the anime is good example of this sometimes, like in orange league there was a guy in a desert that used magnemites to bring energy from storms, a desert in rain is something rare to see, yet pretty epic.

I think i'll stop now, don't want you to feel like i'm forcing my ideas into you XD
