Finally got a good reference going for Blade! He's been with me since around high school. He's gone through some changes and this one was a work through for another world, but I really love him. Think the black tongue and tentacles are going to remain permanent in his appearance from now on cause I love them. This is also kinda based off of his impim form, which is why he's got whiskers and cat like ears, but I'm not upset.

For more information on him, he's an assassin that comes from a clan of killers. This clan breeds and raises people to kill for hire and all the currency gathered goes to the head of the clan. They name their people off of the weapons they specialize in. Blade specializes in many different kinds of weapons, but they're all types of blades, so he's named after a generalized type. He escaped when he was younger, but the scars of his "punishments" remain. He's really messed up in the head now, so he switches from assassin mode (seen on the left) back to his more "innocent" side (seen mostly on the right).

Blade is playful most days, but always makes people feel uncomfortable because something's just...off about him. He's always got a massive, toothy grin on his face and his eyes remain covered by his hair most of the time. He's extremely protective of people he cares about, especially his adoptive mother, Cyna (he calls her "Sheep-Mom"). His favorite things in life are chocolate and ducks. He's obsessed with both. As a side note that's kinda important, Blade started to mess with bomb making when he was younger and eventually came to make his own kind. He uses rubber ducks lmao. He will buy rubber ducks and make these small but powerful bombs that go in them. Yes, he keeps the squeaker inside, so they always explode with funny noises.

Blade's species is called a "skin shifter." When they're young, they will go through a type of coming of age ceremony where, when enough of their magic has gathered within them, they will find a beast suitable enough to hunt. It must be something they feel a connection to and one that's a good size for their own body (so can't be something huge and can't be something tiny). Once they've found one, they will battle it to the death. If they succeed, they will take the skin of the beast and, with their magic, form it into some kind of clothing. This will stay with them for the rest of their life. Only a single skin can cause them to transform into the beast they killed. It's a once in a lifetime decision that cannot be changed. It takes all of their magic to make such a special type of clothing. With their clothing on, they can shift between half beast and full beast. If their clothing/skin is taken from them, however, they can't shift. They MUST have their skin with them. Blade's reference shows two of these forms: human (without skin) and half beast (wearing skin as clothing). His full beast form is actually an impim in this realm (thus he has an impim form, though noting that this is not canon in the impim group, this is just for fun for me).

Another note: those pink bows on his boots? Those are from Sheep-Mom. They're precious to him, so he takes them everywhere. He will get very upset if something happens to them. During his travels and when he has a hit to do, he'll take them off and tuck them away into his pockets. Sometimes accidents happen though and they'll get damaged when he's running through the woods. This makes him sad afterwards.

Anyway, I'm super happy with this. Hopefully one day I'll be able to depict him the way I really want. Until then, I look forward to getting commissions of him!
