wonderful intro in your statements and i agree. i would add to that "divine comedy" how men peak at their sexual energy in their late teens, around 17-18, while women peak in their early to mid 40's. it's a wonderful joke played on us to have the two genders working from opposite ends of a human life in this way ---with experiencing the most basic form of creativity in action, sexuality itself.

i really hear you regarding the idea of it being a "tragedy" (---though only upon first glance).
at this stage, for myself atleast, i see the perfection in it all. life is about surrender. it's a path of loss. not so much about material things, but about surrendering to a vast love that is beyond our full capacity to comprehend most of the time. love counts when things are not going well. true compatibility is scored when the world is falling apart and when disagreements are running rampant. someone will come to me, a friend, with a new partner and ask: do you think we're compatible? and i'll answer, "how well do you fight together?" - "when you face feelings of hatred for this other person, how do you work through that?"
to the degree which we go through life embracing the surrender, ...surrender of youth, health, strength, vision, hearing, or etc... determines our happiness. as you have surely noticed by now not everyone comes out at the other end, the elderly years, feeling light-hearted and thankful for their lives.
