shame it was dark in there, iso 400 indoors really ups the grain. get the lighting stuff in there 
but apart from the grain, really interesting photo, shouldnt have told us what it was... i love guessing macro's my first guess was a film reel. like the big old cinema one's when i saw the thumbnail
