Here's something to show some love to a nearly-forgotten hero of video games...I'm sure some of you are trying to forget the Uwe Boll films that tried to adapt her character and didn't help anything!

For those of you new to the fanged beauty dropping like death from above -- the art is from the POV of someone who's SERIOUSLY screwed! -- is Rayne, also known by her codename as an agent of the Brimstone Society as Bloodrayne. The lady's a dhampir: her human mother was raped by Kagan, a powerful vampire, and Rayne was one of *many* half-breed children Kagan wanted to support him in dominating the world. This redhead was a pure rebel driven to avenge her mother and family destroyed by the forces of evil, which led her to becoming part of the Brimstone Society. She started serving as their agent a handful of years before World War II -- yeah, this beauty's a lot older than she looks! Rayne has a rambunctious, zero-sh*ts-given attitude when it comes to taking on monsters. I'm pretty sure she was the first video game character to growl the F-bomb at her enemies...I should know, I've played her games!

Unfortunately, for one reason or another, Rayne hasn't exactly been handled righteously...never mind the sucky movies, missteps in how game makers handled her kept the lady from becoming as big as heroes like Lara, Jill and Samus. Geeks can only cross their fingers this beauty will be given the treatment that's her due because she has so much potential. For now, at least I can give Rayne respect this way...I've already got ideas on doing a lot more for her, too!
