The first of a couple of more Slayers works I wanted to bring to everyone today! :3

First it's finally time to show a bit of love to a couple my great co-creator introduced us to in her epic "The Return", and with Ko's blessing you'll see them play pretty important roles in stories I'll bring here soon, too!

The lady on the left is Rei Hatsu, aka Representative Hitomi Nishijima, a political mover and shaker in the Tokyo Kingdom's capital! Any of you who know Rika Tsukino at all and have read stories like "From Darkness", however, know that this lady is anything but perfect. I'll spare the dirty details so you can find out for yourselves by reading "The Return", but it's a light thing to say that Rei had a heavily negative impact on Rika only four years ago...and for the very worst of reasons!

But Ko, who created Rei, helped me get to know her really well as someone who wasn't a monster...just seriously, deeply flawed, a far too human woman who made all the wrong choices and as a result was as miserable as many of those she's met in her life. All the lady really needed to do was acknowledge her wrongs and try to grow to become someone who could look at herself in the mirror. Ko did that in amazing ways, I really felt for Rei for all the same reasons Ko really made me connect with another great character my co-creator focused on in "The Return", Kyoku Kuju!

But as Rei grew and had a whole lot of horrible things to worry about in the meantime, she had some very strong and able support in the form of two special people, and they both worked for her as her aides! One was the beautiful nephilim (that's half mortal, half Angel!) Nanase Saionji. The other is the guy in the art above with Rei, American-born Angel Matthew Stone.

Matt's got a pretty interesting history himself...let's just say that while he's an Angel, he hasn't always been an angel! But he's made a new start and knows the meaning of second chances. Like Nanase, he saw the woman Rei could be and strove to support her even if meant putting their own lives on the line. In fact, by the end of "The Return", it's safe to say that Rei and Matthew could begin a relationship that's a lot more than professional...he quit his work as a political aide and is going to make a move to become a demon slayer sponsored by the Slayers Organization! The future promises to be bright and, since we're talking about Demon City 7 here, very interesting for these two!
