Here's the first of two more awesome XPS models I'm sharing with the blessing of the Deviant responsible for them...they may be little things, but as props, they'll mean LOTS to you Star Trek geeks!

First up, the Mechmaster TOS Communicator brought to XPS for his New Vistas web comics. Anybody who knows a darn thing about Trek knows how important this little son of a gun is. The communicator can provide nearly instant subspace communication, which means it can bypass even electromagnetic inferference, over long range -- for example, from the member of an away team on a planet all the way to his or her starship in orbit. (Subspace is a thing that obeys its own laws of physics, so please don't ask me about it!) The 'nearly' part is because you still have to flip its top open and maybe adjust the settings depending on the situation. It's also a literal lifeline because it can serve as an emergency transponder so the starship's crew can find the person using it in bad situations!

Like the Tricorder, this device has been a giant influence on real world tech...just look at your cell phone.

An important thing to note about this model: just like the Tricorder, this comes in more than one part. If you simply want to flip the top open or closed, you just need to adjust one axis on your XPS for the top itself. If you want to manipulate the whole device for someone to hold it -- for example, in the way 's Ingrid Hunnigan is above! -- you'll have to adjust all three for *both* the body and lid in the same way. Just as long as you know that going in, you should have no trouble!
