Description This is just a small low colour GIF, HD version with the animation process here!

A very Death Note inspired animation that was months of work!
If you share this I greatly appreciate it and be sure to let me know!
Sorry for the late post, as some may know it was done a week ago.
It was even a lot of work compressing the GIF to just 32 colours to load faster. Feel free to ask questions or give criticism.

Oh wow, this is just so awesome! I'm a fan of Death Note and I really like how you are influenced by Light Yagami and the way that he moves his pen around in frantic motions. Very smooth and detailed animation.

Chartokai In reply to AvidCommenter [2015-01-12 22:10:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks I'm glad the hard work paid off. Don't forget Teru Mikami from Death Note. He also played a big part in over the top dramatic writing and the story by somehow adding even more religious symbolism.

AvidCommenter In reply to Chartokai [2015-02-08 14:55:22 +0000 UTC]

I forgot about Mikami. Ironic as I liked his role in the story, especially when he saw Light as God and then here was the last episode where Near's theory was correct.

Woah! Smooth animation!!! 0_o How long did this take? Wait, lemme guess..... uh..... 3 months? (with break in between ofc!)

My fingers and hand often goes numb 'coz of too much drawing / coloring. I feel like I've attached someone's else fingers then...
ever felt like be4 at all...'coz my sis says that's weird....

Love your avi! I love the jumping part and the hair bouncing too! ^^ Cute!

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-12 13:01:38 +0000 UTC]

It's very hard to judge time spent on an animation as some days you draw more then others and there are breaks in-between such as Christmas holidays but the span of starting too finishing is around the ballpark of 3 months so good guess. (It looks better in the video link then the DeviantART GIF)

As for the aches and pains you're not alone. Artists (especaly working ones) often get back pain from bad chairs and wrist/finger pains from overuse. Using a stress ball in spare time helps most artists.

Thanks I wanted my avatar to stand out as much as possible.

Phew~! Sounds very tiresome.... I pity you. 0^0

Yeah, I get backaches too.... Do you get any?
Thanks for the tip.

Awww... your avi is not bouncy bounce anymore.... are you a girl or a guy? The icon looks guy-ish but the lashes are distracting.

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-13 20:44:27 +0000 UTC]

Animation in general is tiresome but for my lack of experience I did well.

I used to get back pain but now I work on a PC tablet I can take with me.

"avi is not bouncy bounce anymore" How so? I'm a guy but my icon's eyes where adapted from an earlier thing I made and it's hair is too short.

Good for you! ^^

Tablets saves the day... I usually paint with mouse which is hell for hand aches 'specially...

Oh.. now it's bouncy! Yesterday, it was frozen... must be a bug or smthing in my comp.
A cute guy at least.... I take it guys don't like being 'cute', right? XD

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-14 23:06:54 +0000 UTC]

Well a mouse has the advantage with vector and precise 3D art but even paper illustration beats a mouse for me.

Thanks. I never thought of cute being gender restricted but considering many assume I'm female don't worry. If it's meant as a complement I'll take it that way.

That's true - Drawing traditional is soooo easy for me... it's the lineart that bothers me.... ._.

It is!
Some girls think that some guys are cute you know. Not only for features but for their manner as well. C=

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-19 13:17:20 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply. With my tablet gone for repairs I too am stuck with a mouse and traditional art.

That's defiantly true. That or I'm just adorable as many girls are open enough to tell me. I think it also has something to do with my art often being cute.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

typintypos In reply to Chartokai [2015-01-19 13:32:31 +0000 UTC]

Ouch! But mouse painting is not so bad when you get the hang of it - I painted this nice hair and I don't know how I even did it....

Haha! I bet I'm one of those girls?
Yeah, your art is definitely cute. Don't you like to draw matured men for a change? I'm practicing so. But so far, my guys tend to look like girls. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-21 13:36:02 +0000 UTC]

Especially now knowing how much better digital painting on tablets are over a mouse I would never make a mouse painting but if you get good results it's a valid tool for you.

You could well be one of those girls. Looking at my Deviantart page it looks like I have more men drawings then women but there's a leaning towards cute things. If you're struggling drawing men; or anything almost; a good way to learn is drawing the structure or even tracing over other peoples art. (but don't upload traces without permission)

typintypos In reply to Chartokai [2015-01-22 11:53:06 +0000 UTC]

It is! But I prefer my tablet when it comes to details and precision but I'm so used to the mouse since that's what I had at the beginning of digital drawing. But I agree that the tablet is far advantageous, for its easy to draw and paint with.

Now that makes me sad.....and I think that your art is still cute but not in a bad way, you know?
Thank you for the tip! ^^ It'll sure help me a lot. = D
tracing over? u mean for me to trace out the other's art on top by a clear sheet of paper or do you mean by copying it and drawing one of the exact likeness as best as I could?

I'm kinda curious, are you always this formal or is it just for random strangers you meet? (no insult/ anything intent just curiosity)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-22 22:31:30 +0000 UTC]

Hey, if you can use a mouse; more power too you. Even a professional animator has mocked me for animating in PhotoShop but results speak for themselves.

I don't know what part of that disappoints you. By the context it sounds like you miss-interrupted me thinking my gallery isn't cure when I do.

What I ment was drawing over the top of art following the process that would have been made instead of jumping to details. The 4 stages of drawing people are: An anatomy skeleton, basic volumes, nude defined volumes, then finally add details like clothes, colour and tone. Example of the first 3: i.imgur.com/QCOLuyu.png

The word 'formal' is quite vague. I avoid text speech and aim for correct spelling and grammar but due to my interest in psychology I act like whoever I communicate with. (It's called mirroring)

typintypos In reply to Chartokai [2015-01-23 11:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Eh? Really? I dunno.... I mean I can paint with the mouse (difficult to sketch though) but it's not so nice. This is an example (the hair, not the rest) ->sta.sh/0398e30f0pa
That's not nice of that pro to mock ppl!

'cure'? you mean cute, right? Typos. XD
Oh, nonononon! Your gallery is super cute, true! But I meant that you know, guys don't like to be called 'cute' or having anything to do with that.... that's why.

Oh! 0.0 Thank you so much for the example and explanation, Charto!    (does it mat if I call you by that name?) I understood 100000000%!!! ^^  Don't be upset that I didn't get it - your explanation is good. Only thing is that I don't get stuff easily 'coz English is not my mother tongue.... (even so!)
Seems like all psychologists are like that? My bro's a psyco-case too! (don't b offended, I'm too lazy to type it corectly) I think it's cool knowing about one's mind and body and knowing how a body thinks and all that! ^^ (I LOVE SCIENCE!)
Do you enjoy being a psychologist? I mean, u weren't forced to do it, right?
So, technicaly, you r saying that u r mirroring me? Ok, how abt this then -> If I act like the total nutcase that I am, would u mirror me in UR nutcase way too? The notion is pretty funny but don't b offended, I have a super amazing sense of humor

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-23 13:24:02 +0000 UTC]

I was only saying use the mouse as you expressed being able to use it. This would even apply to famous elephant dung artists. It's not my thing but if the glass is air/smell tight the result is all that matters.

Yes that is a typo making it passed my spell check. Like I said before; I get called cute all the time so don't worry about it. Most of my fan art portrays me as female anyway.

You're welcome for the explanation and call me what you like as long as I know it refers to me. Also your English sounds excellent to me.

I wouldn't consider myself a psychologist. I'm interested in quite a few fields of scince like astrophysics and evolution (I self study university courses and reed pear review papers) but I don't plan to have a career in it. It also helps show anti science people's hilarious propaganda wrong. As for being a "total nutcase" too a degree yes but it's more like allowing others too act in their comfortable normal way (possibly a "nutcase") opposed to reacting where people act unlike themselves based on the communication they revive (getting angry at calm people makes them less calm).

Thank you!

Yea-uhhh....wait wuuuut?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-01-26 10:16:23 +0000 UTC]

Not at all. Most people get no fan art and considering even the only intentional gender swap was drawn out of kindness I'm more then happy. Would you not feel the same?

You're welcome.

To summarize the last pargraph simply: Although I learn psychology I don't want a job in it. I too like science and find anti-science people funny. Intentional mirroring is more about letting you act like yourself by not influencing then copying.

Hmmm... yeah, I would. But I don't think I'd like ppl to think I'm a guy!

Oh! Thanks for the explanation! ><; Ooooh! 0.0 I never knew there was such a thing be4 at all!

Uhhh... what color is your eye?

Each too there own, I don't mind as long as I'm judged on my merit.

No problem, I'm happy to help.

Eye colour? Depending on the lighting they can be from blue too green but there normally in the middle. (turquoise)

typintypos In reply to Chartokai [2015-01-27 10:37:47 +0000 UTC]

Hehe....that means ur ok with being mistaken as a girl? That's kinda hard to believe still..
True that - one's merit should be judged than the other aspect.

^^

REALLY!?!? I mean, can I see? I try google-ing them eye colors but most often than not, they are contact lens and nt real.
I guess that's the reason ur avi has greenish blue eyes?
come to think of it, ur avi reminds me of Korra from 'Avatar'. I dunno y....

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-02-01 22:52:08 +0000 UTC]

Pretty much. Considering how often it happens even when a male name and gender is listed I have to accepted people must see me as feminine.

Can you see? I don't see why not. i.imgur.com/Ju7T89o.jpg You can find others with unnatural colours but it's commonly caused by harmless mutations making the genes for colour pigments independent.
They're not as pure as contact lenses but I would take them over most. I waited to reply once I had a camera that could focus on things so close to it.

Cool!!! Love ur eye color! So pretty!
Yeah, I saw one such example - for albinos i think it was

Cool! Aaaah.. so that's the late reply. I though I frightened u off with my weird request. lol
Thank you for showing me ur eye color! ^^

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-02-03 22:15:03 +0000 UTC]

Well you're not the first nor will you be the last.

Thanks. I too like my eyes being proud of their uniqueness.
As for albinism I wouldn't put it with "harmless mutations" considering the how serious it can be but it's evolutionary processes and effect on making pigment are comparable.

It was a bit of a weird request but it wasn't much effort once I found my camera phone so no problem.

typintypos In reply to Chartokai [2015-02-04 17:14:42 +0000 UTC]

True that!

What? It is? I never knw that! I thought it is harmless -  like not a very serious disorder (like it doesn't cause unnatural problems)

Thanks! XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chartokai In reply to typintypos [2015-02-04 20:26:29 +0000 UTC]

It's considered a genetic disorder making mainly blacks (the used term for ethnicity if anyone complains) not produce melanin which helps block the suns harmful effects like cancer. It can happen in many animals but in the first world it's just an inconvenience of protecting the skin with product, lack of normal hair growth, possible damaged sight and not fitting in as easily.

You're welcome.

The video is going to be how the animation looked at different stages of development (such as the early sketches, line work, block colours etc.) so it may help. If you want I can send you a comment when it's uploaded (hopefully in a day or two).
