This came up when my friends and I were talking about the Dalish. We we where talking about how the Dalish would have the second hardest culture clash in Dragon age. We agreed the only thing that makes the Qunari. The hardest is because aside from Iron bull there are no other Qunari to blend in with. But that it is only for looks. Where as the Dalish rank second because they look normal, but just about everything they do,eat,how they sit, how they talk, daily rituals and celebrations, would earn more awkward stares than with the Qunari. Reasons are because the Qunari have had exposure to other races and cultures, while majority of the Dalish are hidden (for good reason ) and only hunters who seek out and gather eleven artifacts would have a higher chance of encountering other cultures, but even so it would rarely happen.
And because of their large size and intimidation no one is really going to go out of their way to piss off a Qunari. Meanwhile, the ever so small, adorable, yet stone Dalish make easy bullying targets at first glance.
However, it was agreed that when it comes to skills and combat, these 2 cultures would have it nailed.
True other races can fight but the whole culture is setup differently. Human are more so about diplomacy, where as Dwarves are more so about networking and resources.
The Qunari have a peculiar history and has been hint to be a race made the Tevinter imperium and were made by mixing slaves with dragon’s blood. (I read that awhile ago don’t quote me)
And the Dalish fight for survival. With that cones desperation which makes anyone even more dangerous. It would also explain why it is often difficult to negotiate with the Dalish. They can’t afford to lose anymore of anything.
