Description Just a simple but fun piece I thought up. I kinda like it. I want candy...lots of candy

EDIT: Re-rendered at slightly higher resolution. And I re-worked the title. I know I used the Star Trek film font way too much, ha ha.

Cool render. Simple concepts such as this often look better than something more complex. Did you use an environment map on this?

Too bad it's not in 1600x1200 resolution. I might have used it as a background for a while.

I think so, too! I sometimes worry my art's too simple but, usually, I like it. Enough to post, here, at least. And no, I didn't. Bryce is kinda limiting -_- The sky is just plain white all around as far as I remember and then just picking the material specs for the cubes.

I can re-render it if you want o.O I don't think it took that long. Certainly shouldn't on my new processor, now. Let me know ^^ But I do widescreen resolutions, usually, now, since I have a widescreen LCD and most screens are moving that direction. But it shouldn't be a problem to change the AR and make a new one for you

Mhmm... I know what you mean. Sometimes I too get the feeling that my work is too simple to show to anyone. I don't let that stop me tho. I think you shouldn't let it get in your way either.

Now if you could render a bigger version that would be swell. Just lemme know when you're done.
I'm still very much in favor of 4:3 screens (for various reasons I shall not list here ). You may have noticed I do the majority of my work for that aspect ratio.

It'll be 4000x3000 when it's finished Did you just want that as the original or did you want me to size it down for you to a particular resolution?

Punakettu In reply to chasef [2008-07-28 19:01:37 +0000 UTC]

1600x1200 is fine

chasef In reply to chasef [2008-07-27 02:00:51 +0000 UTC]

Actually, scratch that. I usually do 1.5:1 since that yields the most print sizes >.> But, yeah, I'll cook up a new one if you want - IM/e-mail/note me.

Ummm... you can soon go see it in my devs.... but may i ask what res did you use? I want the print to be about 80x60cm so what do you recommend?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chasef In reply to Mr-Magic [2006-02-11 23:16:08 +0000 UTC]

I used the highest resolution Bryce would allow me at a 1.5:1 ratio: 4000x2666.66, approximately. As far as your measurement requirements, FAQ #132: What are the minimum image sizes for each product? will probably help.

I'm going to get a print.... but sorry it'll not be this one.... I'm planning on making my own, so I already know this is done with Bryce.... but... there's a tiny problem....
I dont know at all how you made it look so beautiful I'd like some instructions on the material & and other settings.... I already have the basic forms done
oh yes.... and how do you get the edges sooo smooth? if there's a tutorial for this, please send the address or sumfin. I'd appreciate it sooo much hope you have time to reply

chasef In reply to Mr-Magic [2006-02-09 15:13:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'm lazy...so I used a default shape in Bryce. If you click the little arrow next to Create, you can find the rounded cube shape I used. As for the material, I just used a standard glass and changed the color (diffusion, I think; you'd have to play with it). After that, multi-replicate duplicated the "candies" I needed and kept them mathematically even. That's about it

You show me a good tutorial site or something and I'm game As it stands, I open the program and just kinda stare like a deer in headlights >_< I do wanna learn it, though ^_^ Any tips are greatly appreciated!! Thanks for the comment on the image

esotericsean In reply to chasef [2004-09-26 01:43:05 +0000 UTC]

i like people who wanna learn. i have a beginner's tutorial in my gallery that i made. it's on how to make legos. it goes over a lot in the program. i tried to make it as detailed as possible. another thing to try is in max, go to help -> tutorials and do ALL of the tutorials that come with max. that's how i taught myself. and there's some really good ones that are in there, so you should try those. so yea.. good luck! if you need any help or anything you could talk to me on aim or email me or talk on da. i'm always willing to help people
