Description
Out of all of the work I did for the Theros setting this is probably my favorite. Really cool that I got to do a few of the Gods, even though its a sorcery.Art Director: Jeremy Jarvis

This. Is. EPIC. One question though, who are these gods? I'm not familiar with Theros.

Phenax there on the left is the God of lies, deception, and cheating, Erebos in the center is the God of the Underworld, and Pharika on the right is the Goddess of healing and poisons, and death of old age.

Cool, the designs really fit them. Do you know if they're from any actual mythology?

The idea with the Gods of Theros is that they're not actually from mythology, they're supposed to maybe resemble gods from myths that are very well known. For instance, Hades and Erebos are basically the same thing, Gods of the Underworld. There's another god on Theros called Keranos who's the God of Storms and Epiphany. He's likely a sort of Zeus counterpart, as well as the main god Heliod (media.wizards.com/images/magic… <--big resemblence actually >.> )

Oh, that is an awesome concept! Like, they're the "true" Gods, and the Gods of mythology are just based on them? That's a really great concept!

No, not quite....the way Magic the Gathering make a world that has no relevance to Earth, it's just an entirely new world, as opposed to basing their world off of ours then changing something about it.
The inspiration for the gods here was the gods from mythology, they're not at actual odds with the mythology itself. On the plane of Theros, the Gods put on nightly displays of their rivalries and battles, as they all reside in that Realm's night sky. (Which is also why they have stars in them, as a tangible conncetion to the night sky)

Oh, okay, thanks for all the info! So this is from Magic the Gathering, interesting. My brother plays that game a lot. I suppose I should learn more about it, it sounds really fascinating. I didn't know the worldbuilding was so detailed and inventive.

Well, you see, each year the world changes! Last year it was a big city-wide gothic city with 10 feuding guilds, this year it's a following a different character as she struggles to face her calling to be a hero as she flees from a dreadful defeat on a all-metal world! Magic the Gathering isn't limited to one setting, and the folks who make it do try to keep it fresh. As a casual sort of player, I do think it's at least worth looking into.

I'm not entirely sure myself, but I believe they're associated with the underworld.

I think from left to right, its Phenax, who gives hope of life, Erebos, who promises nothing but eternity, and Pharika, who gives the solace of death. That's what I got from the flavor text.

Well, yeah, I figured as much from their designs. They don't exactly look like the Gods of pretty pink flowers. XD

This is an awesome piece of art. I like it so much better now that I'm seeing the whole thing, as opposed to the low quality pic of it on mythicspoiler.com. This is cool. I like the desolation on the ground with the gods standing tall lording over the mortals.

Ehh one question.
Does the two serpents come out from its head like a regular Gorgon(I ask because the helmet and the cloud is blocking me). Or those are two regular snakes that she is carrying in her shoulders?

the snakes are coming from a hole in her chest, is easier to see in her card's art
