Another entry for ~AttempteStock 's "Fragile Things" Contest.

Who is to say a girl wasn't the one slaying those kings? I'd also like to think that the song the mermaid is singing refers to this "fragile" slayer of the kings who is adorned with gossamer-like fabrics and a string of pearls!

In case you aren't already familiar with the contest, I was to find inspiration in the following passage:
"In a haven, that she dreampt of as she slept through the slaying of the kings, there's a vast valley of gardens, forests and springs and a silvery rock where this mermaid sits and sings...of beaded silk strings, gossamer wings and other pretty fragile things."

I particularly like this piece because no one else in the contest interpreted the passage this way - and I think it turned out nicely too
