Caged HeartI am not ashamed
for what I have felt.
My heart has a mind of its own
and I can make no apologies for it.
I have loved in many ways
few can understand.
In my innocent days,
before all my dreams were smashed
with his eyes,
I loved all those my heart chose to love.
The consequences of that love
drove my heart back into a locked cage,
where its wings were clipped
and a tracking tag thrust into it.
I must now choose with my mind,
a task too difficult for me to handle.
Those I love are few,
But they are loved with
more than they will ever know.
