I love turtles! I live near large forested areas and if you are hiking, sometimes you’ll meet up with the beautiful painted turtles. Once or twice during a rainy time, I saw a number of them all creeping up a small hill above a creek. I don’t know why they leave behind sources of water during stormy conditions.

  That must be a real treat, Krystal - I love turtles, too! I don't see very many in nature where I live, so it's always a happy circumstance when I come across one  ~

Such cuties. My neighbor had 2 large tortoises and they loved rose petals among other things. She grew roses just to give them their favorite "candy"

Indeed, my dear friend - aww, that's wonderful! They are very peaceful creatures - I'm so glad that those two fellows had loving owners; I love to hear that!

They were very old when my friend passed away nearing 90 years old I think. She was in constant contact with our university UCLA they have a department that deals with those beauties. She willed them to UCLA when she passed away so they came and got them both. I am sure they were well taken care of until they died of old age. I honestly do not know how many more years they lived.

  Oh yes, #mgdf - they were residents at a nature park in Florida, and they were gracious enough to pose for a picture!
