Nice work. I gave up on hand coloring with colored pencils or crayons, they don't mix well. Pastels however mix too well and can get muddy but I wouldn't mind using them if I had to.

hehe, well with mixing with color pencils, you gotta have many of them so you can use good transition of colors, though I only have a 24 pack >_< at least I got 2 tones of orange for the fur

Mmm, thats the problem. I have only a few pencils. Though I have moved into digital drawing for the time being. Bristol paper is expensive and I cannot afford to make mistakes. I really want a tablet PC with an active Digitizer, that way I can draw like crazy anywhere I want.

I'm fine with my current tabby x3 as for paper, I usually use printer paper haha... might be cheap but its the range I need to draw

I generally ink my drawings with either a pen or a brush. Bristol doesn't smudge or drip and is thick stuff and durable. Kinda perfect though pricey. Yeah I use a tabby too but it isn't as good as those tablet monitors I get to use at school.

yeah tablet monitors are awesome xD I wish I had one... ad for the inking, well I usually do it with pens of different sizes... a kinda bigger one for the outside and small one for the inside

I do the same! Heh, I find that method to work really well, even more if I put it into Illustrator's live trace, then the image comes out very nice. The schools tablet monitors are gigantic. They make my 22 inch LCD look tiny, I think they have like 30 inches or more even. So drawing on them is so natural and neat, though it still took me 2 hours and a half to draw, ink, and color on the computer.

hehe same here.. takes for ever to color and ink in computer, especially since I use the pen tool for inking

Pen tool? Well since I use Corel Painter it has all sorts of tools for painting or drawing. It even has an ink tool.

Incidentally, last week, drew a mouse and a nautilus together ( [link] ) without deciding what sort of environment they were in. This sort of unspecificity must be pretty common on dA. Fine by me.

Chazes In reply to DeckardCanine [2008-02-21 22:35:34 +0000 UTC]

well it kinda gives it a different view for everyone, someone sees it jumping, others see it floating, so at least thats good for me

As for the picture, it's AWESOME! Your color detailing is amazing! Win for you!

One think I will point out, however, is that I think he looks better with only three toes per paw vs. four. Other than that, it's perfect!

Scanners can be black holes sometimes. They suck the joy from you and replace it with frustration.

That aside, pretty good job says I.
