Description This is a new mask design with a custom finish. This will also be offered with different finishes, I might offer a Anubis style, (black with gold accents etc.), as well as a style similar to this.

This mask is for a small face and is a little lighter than my other masks because it is also designed to be worn on the side of the head as is customary in various animes. It can also be displayed on the wall etc., which is nice.

It is not meant to be worn for long periods over the face given that there are no nose holes, (to keep the streamlines/stylized design).

I will try to get a photo of it being worn on the side of the head soon. This mask had another layer of white added to it after the photo. My Milan model tends to be finicky about when he's ready to model so I had the strike while the iron was hot, (and he was primped). LOL

Thanks for looking and thanks to my customer for commissioning this, she just wrote after seeing it and has this to say:

"OMG! It's more beautiful than I had imagined! You did a wonderful job! I can't thank you enough! You are a GODDESS! I really wanna squeel! I dont know what else to say! It's perfect!

J."

Thanks again, J.!

I might start making these again out of a different material but the current material refuses to become as thick as it needs to be.

How much would a blank one be, no paint on it? I've been looking for a kitsune mask for a while now. : )

Thanks JirachitheGreat! You could do a kitsune theme and save some money instead of doing a head to toe costume...? That might fill the bill and save your wallet. Have a great day!

Thanks.
This Halloween, I was a Kitsune, I used an old geisha costume I got years back, and crafted a Kitsune mask.
I have a photo of it.

thats a great one! I love how it has the more realistic fox look with the shape - the high and out pointed ears instead of the usual round/short triangle ones. Gives it real presence - nice work!

I have some ready to paint. It *is* a think mask, as I said in the description, but it has a very neat effect and I can paint it with various finishes. Please e-mail me or call if you're interested in one; [link]

Thank you!

I am hoping to! I have been making stock as much as I can. I should have some cute tails and ear/tail sets too. I am hoping to have the time/energy/materials to have some XL horns this year too!

I think this one would make a nice wall hanging, too. I mounted a dragon mask a while back for a gallery show and it looks so snazzy, (I think), and I made the back removable so the mask could be worn, also.

It was ironic. It was a show of masks but my two were really the only functional masks among them. Others could have been worn but were out of breakable or delicate material.

This one's a little thinner than I like but, since it's not one meant to be worn so much as carried or "attached" to the side of the head etc. I guess I'll get used to it, (Or I'll have a psychotic episode).

Thanks for the notes!

prosthetics and more finicky than the other things that I do so I am not doing them as much. Best of luck with learning to do them, though, when they are finished they look great but, getting them to that point, can be a pain in the tush. LOL

i was hopeing for tips, lol that okie though.

che4u In reply to Hazelgirl [2007-05-05 22:55:03 +0000 UTC]

Tips on prosthetics are hard to give because the process is so in depth that, unless someone has a lot of experience with molding and ceramics, they wouldn't make much sense.

The trick, for those who do know those things, from what I have seen is to build the edges of the piece up slowly and carefully or they'll look very bad.

It's a more time intensive process than normal casting and foam latex is *not* my friend! LOL (Nor anyone without a good ventilation system). I don't give tips on that because I am not huge on the process and I don't have a ton of experience at it.

Hope this helps!
