Meet Pyro, the father of Spike in my cheerfulverse. He makes his first appearance in my mlp story 'Call of the Dragon Spirit'.

Pyro is the father of Spike and the husband of Idris. He is also the brother of Hugo and one of the sons of Cloud Dancer.

Long ago, before Spike was born, Pyro and his brother Hugo were very close. While Hugo would be chosen to be commander of the dragon army, Pyro would have the power of the Dragon Spirit that their father Cloud Dancer had just like their ancestor, Spike the Great Dragon. When the two dragons were grown up, Hugo married Brenna and had Smokey while Pyro married Idris. When Pyro told his brother that he and his wife had an egg, Hugo was glad because he was going to be an uncle. However, during the dragon migration, the Scale Collectors, led by the Scale Huntress, ambushed them and began capturing dragons. As he fought them to save his wife and son, Hugo's eye was slashed by the Scale General, Iron Talon. He was able to save his wife and son, but was unable to save his brother and his sister-in-law because they were taken by the Scale Collectors, along with others dragons. During the fight, Idris dropped her egg and it fell down.

The Scale Collectors took the captured dragons to their lair as they began taking their scales and using them as slaves. While Idris wept for her lost egg, Pyro was able to comfort his wife, refusing to give up hope. He held onto his faith that they would one day escape from their prison and find their lost egg.

Many years later, the Scale Huntress made a plan to capture the dragons by taking control of the Bloodstone Scepter. With it, she would command the dragons to return to her lair while her minions would do nasty things to them and she would collect their wings so she could use them for a spell that would allow her to live forever. However, this didn't go unheard by Pyro. He told some of the dragons and they made a plan. Soon, four dragons were able to escape from their prison. Three of them acted as bait to distract the Scale Collectors while the fourth dragon by the name of Green Fang was chosen to warn the dragons about the Scale Collectors.

After Green Fang finally reached the dragon lands and warned the others dragons about the Scale Collectors plan to capture them all, Brenna and some of the dragons were tasked to watch over the dragon hatchlings and unhatched eggs while the other dragons were going to fight against the Scale collectors. Smokey, of course, wanted to help in the fight. However, Hugo didn't think he was ready to fight and Dragon Lord Ember tasks him and his friends to look after Spike as he was going through his first molt.

While Spike was busy going through the molt, Twilight and the others helped Ember, Hugo, and the other dragons fight against the Scale Collectors. During their fight, the Scale Huntress explains to Ember and the ponies that she was planning to collect the wings of the dragons so she could use them for a spell that would allow her to live forever. She threatened to harm the captured dragons she and her minions had brought along unless Ember gave her the Bloodstone Scepter.

After Spike and the others defeat the Scale Huntress and her group, Pyro, Idris, and the captured dragons were free. They approached Spike because they saw that Spike had the power of the Dragon Spirit just like Pyro did and it meant that Spike was their son. Spike is reunited with his real parents and Hugo is reunited with his brother.

Pyro is a good-hearted dragon with a strong sense of justice. He cares about his family and has strong faith of his ancestor.
