Description ~~~ Assignment 3: Chafu meeting the tribe leader for the first time. This was when Vumbi was still token so he doesn't have his King spots yet! I remember...

--Cheetree--It was a hot and sunny day and Uchafu was tempted to stay inside, but this was valuable training time to make her a sturdier fighter. In battle, there wont be any staying inside.! She thought to herself. The five month old cub was practicing new moves and tactics, like surprising someone by leaping down from a tree and making a kill bite!

--ninjacheetah--Vumbi lay under the bushes beside the tree, resting. He could hear a little cheetah in the tree above him, and growled in annoyance. He couldn't really relax when all he could hear was rustling of leaves.
Then, the noise suddenly stopped. He wondered if the cheetah had fallen out, when suddenly something landed on top of him. He felt tiny teeth at his neck. Snarling in fear of not knowing what was on him, he leapt to his feet. The thing rolled off him, and he immediately swiped, hitting the thing, making it tumble into the tree. He heard a little squeak, and pulled up from his crouch.
Oh my gosh, He thought Have I just attacked a cub.

Uchafu rubbed her head. "Oh darnit, i slipped off! It wont happen again!" Uchafu got to her feet and looked at the cat. It was the token. Did he know who she was? he looked confused, and being the only cub in the tribe, he would surely know it was her right? He then recognized her after a few seconds, and uchafu laughed. "Got ya that time didnt i!" she lowered her forelegs to the ground in a playful pose, and swiped at his toes.

"Get off me." Vumbi growled, pulling his paws away. She didn't seem hurt. He lowered his head so it was the same height as hers. "You're called Uchafu aren't you? Did you just try and attack me?"

Uchafu looked at him, quite hurt, "Yeah, im uchafu, i did just attack you, it mustn't have hurt though im as light as a genet.." She looked at his wounds. They looked old and as though they were healing.

Vumbi sighed. "You shouldn't go around attacking cheetahs. You should be enjoying yourself. You're only a cub for so long. When you get to my age, you don't have time to play. You have plenty of time to learn how to fight when you're a tyro."

"What else is there to do here than explore and attack other cheetahs? Theres no other cubs and im bored ALLL day!" Uchafu went to the bottom of the tree and pounced up, digging her claws into either side of the acacia, and clamoring her way up to the fork and sitting. "Can i try that again? i wont bite this time i promise." she smiled down.

"Fine, whatever." Vumbi grunted up at Uchafu. "But if you miss me, I'm not helping you."

She dug her claws into the bark as she leaned forward, steadying her haunches for a perfect shot. She tried not to lunge too hard, and dropped down onto vumbi's back, immediately placing her jaws above his neck as if to perform a kill bite, and straddling him with her front legs as her back legs rabbit kicked his shoulder. "Hah! Did it!" she said triumphantly, jumping around before plopping back down next to the tree. "Anything wrong with it?"

"Ouch." Uchafu had landed on a tender spot in between his shoulders. "You're heavy. And your claws are sharp." He looked down at Uchafu. "No, surprising, everything was was perfect. You're going to have to adjust where you land when you're older, since you'll grow. As big as me one day." It was hard to imagine. She was just about the same height as his knee. "Now, are you going to leave me alone, or am I still you dummy to practice on?"

Chafu thought, "Hmm.. dont you have any special moves or something? Have you used anything particular while fighting?"

"Well, I have a different fighting style than most because of my one eye. I can't see as well you you can. But, I guess I could teach you a little bit of my style. Then you would have a wide range of tactics, and could take a cheetah by surprise." He nudged the cub with his big paw. "What do you think of that?"

Chafu wagged her tail in excitement, "that would be awesome!"

Vumbi sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't say that." He said grumpily, before pulling himself to his paws. "It would be better if we find a more open space. It's rather cramped here."

"I know of some rocks near the border of sunning rocks i usually train myself in. They should be nice and dry today if you want to go there."

Uchafu trotted energetically in the direction of her personal training ground. They slowly made their way to the border and could see the clump of rocks. Uchafu leapt up the ridges and to the top of one giant boulder. Vumbi came up behind, grumbling at the slick rocks. "a bit different from trees isnt it?" chafu chirped, looking down into the now sandy clearing between the rocks. "It looks like it would be of use to sunning rocks, but i havent scented many cats so far."

Vumbi sniffed. "You haven't scented many cats yet "He growled. "You know, there is a actual training spot in our territory. But I guess it would be good here so you know how to fight among rocks as well."
He looked down at the cub. "What type of battle skills do you want to learn then?"

"I dunno. I heard some cheetahs talking about different moves and tactics, like i heard stun, and off- fencing, and de- fencing or something!" Uchafu blushed at her slurred words, "some things come naturally to me, like curling onto my back and kicking them with my back paws to get them away."

"Fighting shouldn't come naturally." Vumbi said sadly. He felt depressed that such a young cheetah knew all these fighting moves. It was like she had never been young. "I've never heard of this fencing thing." He continued. "Do you know what it is?"

"I think offencing is when you attack the other person yourself, cuz i heard them say that biting them is offensive, and defencing is blocking with your back or front paws. " She demonstrated what she thought they meant. She looked lame attempting it, putting her paws up stiffly and twisting around. She noticed vumbis solemn look and wonderd why fighting was so bad. "Why are you so negative about fighting? i'll fight for my tribe, whats wrong about that?"

"Oh right, I knew that." Vumbi muttered, watching a beetle scramble over the rocks. That was the most basic thing he had been taught. How could he forget?
"Why don't I like fighting?" He echoed. "Let me tell you something I had never told anyone before. I never did want to be a sentry. I had always wanted to be a messenger. But I'm one of the slowest cheetahs in the Tribe. And I can't hunt because of my eye. I've tried hunting before, but I always end up smashing into trees that I don't see until it's too late. So the only thing left was a sentry." He spat. "I hate fighting. If there wasn't any fighting, then everyone would be happy." He scraped his claws along the rocks, suddenly angry. He began pacing back and forth. "I've been trained to bring death. My parents both died in a battle against Crowded Water. And now I am one of those cheetahs who first killed my parents. And if I become Chief, I'm going to have to make those decisions whether or not to fight." He could felt tears in his eye, and he hurriedly wiped them away. "I don't want to be responsible for death." (([i had to highlight this, its so different than he is nowadays!]))

Chafu felt angry that vumbi's parents had to die in the fight. "When i grow up, i promise i'll fight for peace! But i gotta make sure i dont get too weak in my peace-ful-ness, or else when i have to fight bad guys, i wont be able to. Thats how i see it. You can fight when its necessary, and dont kill the innocent. So you shouldnt be too angry bout being a sentry. After all, youre one o' the strongest in the tribe, and can enforce what you think is right. Pour all the goodness in the world into a strong cheetah's heart so they can do somethin' withit. Its just how the world works." Chafu reconciled. She was slightly discouraged by the tokens downtalk of fighting. Chafu loved to fight. It was no fun hurting other people, but if she had to to defend something, she would.
"So do ya know anythin' bout fightin' or am i out of luck?"

Vumbi smiled at Uchafu's little speech, then sighed. There was no way he would convince her. "Yeah, of course I do. How about I teach you how to defend yourself and dodge?" He asked. Then muttered, "At least you're not fighting that way."

"Aww.." Chafu needed to learn how to claw and attack, but dodging and blocking were essential as well, she would have to catch him another time for the other half. "Alright, only if you promise to teach me ONE fight move after dodgin' and blockin'." She flexed her claws, ready to move quickly. She loved moving quickly. She was never the biggest fighter, but could fluster adults with her agility and dust throwing. It was also exciting to move fast on her light feet.

"Urg fine. I'll teach you that later." Vumbi promised. He could see the way Uchafu was looking at the dust on the ground, and smirked. His name didn't mean dust for nothing.
"Okay," He called. "I'm coming now. Get ready." He crouched, then leapt at Uchafu. Immediately, she kicked up the ground, causing dust to whirl around. Vumbi grinned. He couldn't see a thing, but that meant neither could Uchafu. But because of his one eye, his other senses had improved, and made up for it. He could smell and hear the cub perfectly, and easily pin pointed her. Slowly, he stalked towards her.

Chafu had remembered vumbi saying he couldnt see well, so he had a 'style' for fighting, and she knew he may well be able to sense her near. She tried to keep moving in the cloud, but it was settling quickly and she had to make her move quickly! She jumped toward the suspecting tom, or where she thought he was, but landed on ground instead of foe. She heard paws shuffling in the dirt as vumbi took his turn.

Vumbi swiped at Uchafu, but she ducked out of the way. A wind blew the final bits of dust away, and everything was clear again. He scanned the area in front of him, but Uchafu had vanish. He heard paw steps behind him, and he spun around to see Uchafu charging towards him. She leapt easily onto his back, and clung on whilst he tried to shake her off.

As she felt wind above her head from vumbi's slashing paw, Chafu's size had allowed her to slip under the tom and sneak up behind him while he was blinded by the dusty wind. She skidded on the sand and quickly swiveled back toward the tom, charging and leaping onto his back. Vumbi bucked up and down trying to get her off, and flipped forward onto his back, crushing both chafu's left arm and leg. She meowed in half pain half laughter, and pretended to take advantage of the moment to snap his neck with her jaws. He rolled up when he realized he was being 'killed' but chafu was clung tight to his scruff. "ISH ALL OFER FUMVI, I GAHT YER NECGHK"

Vumbi laughed. "Okay, okay, you win this one. Well played." He waited for Uchafu to scramble of him before giving her some advice. "You should always have a plan on what you are going to do after you kick up some dust. Unless you are very sure that the cheetah relies heavily on sight, you should always be wary with this defense tactic. Take Vipofu for example. She is completely blind, yet still a sentry. A dust storm would not affect her at all. Have you got all that?"

"Yes! How do i know someone has eye problems? usually they are injured i guess." She mewed. "Hey, i know a place where you can teach me to use less eyesight and more sensing. Ever been to the treehouse?"

Vumbi blinked in shock. "What? But that's in Crowded Water territory. Have you been there?!" He lowered his head so his eyes were equal to Ucahfu's. "There are meant to be dark spirits who lurk in there."

*post missing*

Vumbi bristled. He hated Crowded Warer cheetahs. "You should not have even gone into their territory, never mind explore the treehouse!" Uchafu was lucky he didn't see her little smirk before. "Do you realise how far away that is?! No, I will not train you there. The best place for you to train would be in some long grass, not in a haunted tree house!" Vumbi shuddered. He strongly believe in the tales of the dark spirits.

Vumbi narrowed his eyes. This was a very touchy subject for him after his parents died. "What do you think happens after death then?"

Vumbi narrowed his eyes. This was a very touchy subject for him after his parents died. "What do you think happens after death then?"

"N-no, well then where do we go when we die? We definitely dont use our body because that rots away so what would we use to see or get around. A spirit cant even bite you because it doesnt have a mouth!"

"Maybe we get changed into another animal afterwards, so we never really die. Or after we die, we can still see anyway. Our body is just carrying our spirit for a while ... I don't know really. But I don't think we just ... Vanish. I hope not anyway." He smiled sadly. "Do you want to continue with your training then?"

*POST MISSING*

Vumbi hesitated. He knew he shouldn't, but in truth, he really was curious. He wanted to know if dark spirits, or even spirits at all existed. Plus, he would annoy the Crowded Water cheetahs.
He looked down at her. "Do you know the way to the treehouse?"

"Yup!" She signaled to vumbi to follow her. "Its gonna be awesome! We're gonna climb, and jump, and explore all through it, and since the leopards not there during the evenings we can go as far as we want!" Chafu led Vumbi to the border of crowded water, and they crossed the border, making sure no cheetahs were in range. They entered the forest as the sun touched just above the treetops, casting a warming glow on the cool marshes. "Tuvilu said the marshes make it hard for cheetahs to smell foreigners scents, so no one ought to find our trails." The two made it to the border of sunning rocks trying to find dry ground to walk on, only finding thick underbrush and having to maneuver their way around walls of thistles and sticker bush. The two only had to duck out of sight when two sunning rock cheetahs came sauntering tiredly by, heads down and tails flicking the mosquitoes away. The sun was just touching the ocean when they made it to the far side of the crowded water territory and the treehouse was in sight.
"Oh no, we have to train quick before we have to leave for the night.."

Vumbi was panting after their long journey. "No ones going to miss us. We can just say I was training you what to do if you ever get lost at night." He looked up at the tree house looming above them. "It looks kinda creepy." He muttered.

Looking up, chafu agreed. They started climbing the tree next to the tree house. "Tuvilu said this was the only way. The ladder on the main tree stops halfway up." They got to the top, crossed the two shaky wood rope bridges, and made it to the porch. "Alright then! Lets go." CHafu started into the house through the hole in the door.

Vumbi saw Uchafu vanish through the hole, and peered through it. He couldn't see a thing. "There might be some other cheetahs in there, Uchafu?" He called, nervous.

*post missing....*

Vumbi squeezed in after her. "No, I can eat plants, but that's never been very helpful for me. Would a fire be seen anyway?"

*idontevencareanymorepostmissing*

Vumbi narrowed his eyes at the fire, wondering if it would set fire to the building. He looked up at Uchafu, deciding that if it did set fire, it would be Crowded Water's problem, and that wouldn't be so bad. "I don't know." He shrugged. "I have no idea what's even in here," He glanced around nervously, expecting a dark cheetah to suddenly leap at them. "So I'll just follow you. You go where ever you want."

Chafu squeaked in delight at the concept of a cub leading a token, "You should have a torch too, In case we get seperated." She got together another bundle of twigs, moss, and spider webs, and lit it with her own torch. Handing it to Vumbi, she hoped excitedly to a door on the right side of the room. "After you!" She said, after making it clear she couldnt reach the door handle with her short legs.

Vumbi rolled his eyes, before reaching up and pulling down on the door handle. He curled his paws underneath it, and pulled back, opening it. He peered around the corner, before making his way in, followed by Uchafu. He frowned, not understanding the objects littered around the room. "Did humans make these?"

"What even does a human look like?" SHe replied, sniffing a picture frame. "What crafting!" She was about to pick it up when a big gust of wind swept through the room and out the window, chafu's torch going out. "VUMBI! I cant see" She caught sight of vumbi's torch flickering in the corner. She grabbed hers and tried to run over to him, but fell over a rug on her way there. "OOF! I'll need help not using my eyesight now please, haha!''

Vumbi sighed and walked over to her. "Take this torch." He ordered, before picking her up by the scruff of her neck. "I'm carrying you from now on." He mumbled through her fur, "Or you can ride on my back. But I'm not letting you go off on your own now."

"Kay." Vumbi said through her fur. He lean back and out her on his back. "That's easier for us both now. Don't jump off or I'm leaving you here."
