Description I am moving from my current apartment, one that I have lived in for nearly six, maybe seven years. In the duration of this time, I have shared an abundance of roommates, friendships and boyfriends while also refining my continual journey in skill, education and career choices. When packing to move forward into a new place, you always 'find' bits and pieces of things from the past. From birthday cards and old snail mail to ex-boxes and ex-pay stubs, as I revisit tokens of my past, I am reminded of how I have much I have grown and how far I have come and I see a different me from the one in my time of yesterday. In a continuous state of blossom, growth and change, I am a true evolution in the works if you will. The dreaded thirty years of age is now upon me in my not-so-distant future, when oddly enough I can still sweetly recall a youthful time it seemed I'd never get old and experienced. Over time I have accumulated an assemblage of nostalgic keepsakes, trinkets and memories that serve to remind me of my journey in life thus far. The past may be long and lost to me, but it will stay well preserved by souvenirs of a history that seems a million miles away from today. Some of time's experience and teaching is tragic or sad, but without a doubt in my mind most of my shared life-lessons are definitely rewarding and easily brings a smile to both my face and heart.

The photo above is my Pencil Collection, my plethora of unsharpened, perfect pencils I started collecting in the third grade while attending Navy Point Elementary School in Pensacola, Florida. Check out the Nasa pencil with the old-school logo I got while attending Space Camp, or the vintage black Mamie doll pencil I got from who-knows-where that I doubt could ever be found again. Mr. Macdowell was my teacher's name back then and to this day I fondly recall some of the core values in basic kindness, knowledge and wisdom he shared with his students. He was one of my favorite teachers and he positively stands out in my mind because he was kind, thorough and just plain cool; he was also the first to introduce to me the vast and amazing differences we share in the seven continents and four oceans called Earth.

I captured an image of the tattered box front that has kept the pencils safe for the last sixteen years. Even the make-shift 'latch' I engineered way back then out of packing tape and ingenuity is still successfully in place. The childish handwriting on the front can vouch for it's golden age and I especially appreciate the "Rachel Hearts ... whoever - some long, lost little boy's name that has long faded away in time. What I knew in the third grade about the essence of love, who could know, but then again I can't really say with any confidence that I am an expert on the subject in present times either. Nearly two whole decades later, love is still an unsolved mystery to me. I learn something new every day as my heart, mind and soul absorb the quality relationships I have assimilated in my prized evolution of love, growth and constant learning I call life.

I wish you all a wonderful Merry Christmas 2008 friends, and I look forward to sharing with you more of the memories and experiences we can all look forward to today and in the good times that lay ahead. Cheers!

When stumbling upon your deviation I looked at the comment and first thought 'oh no, here's a whopping long comment'. Then I gave it a read and thought it was a genuinly beautiful construction of your inner feelings and really expresses your reflection. Thank you for sharing : )
