I see the old tree stump and the magic fountain here. It symbolizes rebirth and immortality in my opinion!

This is beautiful, I really like the bark pattern and the overall earthen tone to the colors ~ another beauty~!
I quit drinking bottle water 3 years ago,I used to buy cases every month, I would recycle of course, but wow, you miss a recycle day and look how many plastic bottles I prodeuced in a few short weeks, it was too much and I didnt like it, for the reasons you stated above and Now I avoid it if possible. however I dont drink nasty soda either, so when I am traveling, there is little choice sometimes. But yes, invest in a filter for your own tap water , makes sense , and you save money too.

True, when It comes up too traveling a person most likely won't be able to always find a place where they can offer tap water. For once, in a plane
Although this may be tricky with traveling it isn't to many when our daily routine is based on home and other place(work, school, institute) and back home. In these situations it isn't complicated to simply drink free water compare to these industries. It makes no sense when one does so although knowing this fact.
Appreciate and always enjoy your views my friend. Glad you like this.

Everything is for the money. Today's god is money, so people sell even their souls for the money, but it is greed who lead them. Greed is a son of ego. Is it good? Is it bad? Who is better those egoists or egoless?
Forget it all and taste a water from a real spring... It doesn't taste very good, because its the same water and without any spice, but it is clean from energy of greedy thoughts

It is free from thoughts itself. We can just feel a glimpse of
freedom by simply allowing our thoughts to be for a "sec".
Freedom is what we need till you realize you need nothing for you already are.
I enjoy your views my friend.
Cheers!

Most of my drawings are from my white square blank book. Sometimes instead of occupying one side I fill up the two sides..just like in this case. When drawing I use a black pen and color pencils and then I adjust it in photoshop.

This is lovely, Chelsea. And that's an interesting and thoughtful artist comment. I read somewhere that companies are going to start putting flouride in bottled water. The implication is that flouride does way more harm than good and is part of some sort of plot by "the Illuminati" to poison the populace. Hmmmm...

ChelseaDrouin In reply to mertonparrish [2011-02-19 15:52:29 +0000 UTC]
There is a campaign, although there must be many by now, that make up exaggerated lies always against bottled water. They are pointing out how these industries cast illusions upon society that these bottles contain certified healthy consumption and so they do what they do. Already heard of that bottled water can cause cancer. It's silly
Thank you for sharing your views once again. Always appreciated.
Peace

That is an interesting explanation for why conspiracy theories are so popular.
Could humans be bored, too?
And, they like to be in on secrets and to be able to say "I know whats REALLY going on!"
Wink.

Knowing is part of the intelligence in which you know by conscious. Beyond thought.
Thought is useful to remember, just a way of putting it. The moment one knows something in which stands out in some sort of way the false identified self feel false joy. Feels good of oneself which is illusory. Knowing is beyond thought. an individual can know and at the same time not be able to explain. Just like a kid that knows what is wind but can't explain what it consists of although he may be able to describe it.
You'll never see a child brag about what he knows unless he is pushed or influenced this way. It doesn't occur naturally. Knowing is simply a realization not something to brag about but just a capability that is part of every human being. Once someone brags in any type of way it is just typically a common pattern in which the ego reacts upon. We can all see that through our selves and not react upon it but simply realize that there is no need to be bored or to be anything when we can simply be and with that we will see what happens. Just another perception.
Humans now a days seem to be bored all the time..but many can't guess why when they just don't know they know..
Peace

Well, I am not too sure about children not bragging unless encouraged. I think that might be something just a part of the human makeup. Although, if children were not around TV, misguided human society, parental issues, etc., perhaps they might behave differently... The old nature vs nurture question. And, we are all sorta "big kids"... wink.
The great sin of the Greeks (and other societies) was pride. So, we know the pride, (or bragging as you have put it) has been with us for a long time. But, I suppose so has ego, though that is, I think, a new term or concept (coming along with modern psychology... but where did modern psychology get that idea?... I forget... been a while since my psychology classes.) Of course psychology and New Thought/spiritual thinkers probably view ego a bit differently.
Anyway... yes, it would be good to just be. We try, we who seek that. It would be great if humanity as a whole would try harder at that. But, as I always say to you... easier said than done!... wink.
But, yes, I agree... all so much calmer, better, easier, happier, more peaceful, more sensible if we let go, release ego... just be.

ChelseaDrouin In reply to mertonparrish [2011-02-19 18:36:42 +0000 UTC]
When we say it is easier said then done it is like, for once, someone addicted in biting their nails and finds it hard to stop biting. Something that is not naturally addictive but that we can unconsciously choose to attach ourselves too.
Is it hard, or do we unconsciously choose to complicate it?
Never thought of different perceptions of ego. But in this case it is concerned with the false identified self to thought. The illusory self which only exists in mind.
I always thought it was easier said then done, but that is when I tried to understand nothing. When I complicate things I just know I am complicating it and I believe in that knowing in which will guide me back to the present state. It isn't easy or hard. It just is. The moment we identify and only see through the identification is the moment we complicate.
Still I am on and off with the state of presence. But I know I know just like you do. When you are presence everything seems simple once again.

I go back and forth with the whole seeking and attaching meaning vs. "just being" thing... I seem to naturally be very intellectual, in the mind, and a "meaning attacher." I do see that too much of this is folly and ego. And it is important not to say or think "I have the answer!" and be guilty of pride in intellectualism.
But intellectual pursuit, thought, seeking meaning, and having (to a certain degree) a life of the mind, it is a part of the human experience. Bringing meaning (which is the hallmark of existentialism as I understand it) is not necessarily a bad or ego-filled thing. It is what we humans do and it is programmed into our bodies/minds to see meaning. I do not think attaching of meaning and noticing and focusing on thoughts is ALWAYS ego. It is just a part of who we are as a species. A commenter pointed this out, and I think I agree.
I do want so much to be calm, at peace, let go, etc. I think, as my last LONG response to you indicates, that I tend to believe there is a place for both. Perhaps it is about balance, having time in our day for intellectual pursuit, creativity (which involves seeing and conveying meaning), plus much time for rest, listening, calmness, quiet and just being... hopefully, we have a general demeanor of calm,non-attachment, which promotes "just being."
I do not think that thought, dialogue, seeing meaning, etc., is, in and of itself, necessarily ego, wheel spinning, non-spiritual, etc. Though many monks and men/women of spirit might spend hours/days (or even most of their time) in silence, contemplation, resting in God, etc.(and this may be a sign of great enlightenment and do the world immeasurable good), it is not necessarily ego and not a repudiation of "just being" to attach meaning, speak, write, entertain thoughts etc.
Thomas Merton, the Dalai Llama, etc., many great men of silence and "just being" spend a great deal of time in writing, speaking, and a seeing, capturing, conveying "meaning." And this is not ego, or lack of being present... to the contrary it is an expression of being, being present, etc.
I do not mean to imply that you are necessarily disagreeing with me here... just expressing my thoughts for you.
K, 'nuff for now!
I need to go "just be" for a bit... Lol... Wink.

I don't disagree at all.
Being is intelligence itself. With being you do. When the human being always does things without connecting with being one may feel empty for they may not be connecting with being so of course one may feel empty or the need to crave, desire, accomplish..when really many are looking for that feeling of completeness in which one can then be at peace. There is no sense when human separates from being. But we don't need anything to feel at peace, joy or love. Once we realize silence we then become aware. We become present and still. We then not only listen with our mind but with our whole body. This I see as pure intelligence in which every human being is capable of. The moment we disconnect from being we then live through our minds. With being we connect with life through the body. We then find balance as a whole with mind, body and now.

Thank you Merton. I truly appreciate your honesty and unique expression in which shows how you know how to be and connect as one with life itself with the non-existence of "my life" and "your life".
The moment we let go of thoughts and connect with life in which we create it seems as though we connect with unpredictability because who knows what can happen when one's full attention is in the present moment allowing everything and nothing rise to the situation we may be in. The moment we allow peace and realize how it is always there, still, silent and vibrant we honor everything and realize how nothing matters.
Peace, Love and Joy my friend. Have a wonderful day
