I found this nice photo of a hand ([link] ) and I just had to start drawing it. It's been way too long since the last time I've been doing pencil drawings like this.2B pencil and 6B graphite on paper. Took about 1,5 hours.
I'm gonna upload more of these when I have time to scan.

it's crazy how you get less than 50 faves for a beautiful drawing that means hard work,and how a simple picture that doesn't mean just a hand and that's all with a effect that takes 30 seconds , get's above 200 faves ... people are crazy,JUST CRAZY and not fair...

Wow, I must say that the shading is excellent. One of the thinsg that I've never been able to draw wel is hands. I can never seem to get the shading right or the contours correct. This, however, has inspired me to try my hand at it again! (eheh)

i have drawn hand posses liek that myself but the reason why i never post them is because of the sahding and color contrast.

I don't know if this is true but I was once told that it was more benifical to work from a real person than a photo. People now fear me because I keep making them do weird poses with their hands ^^

Well, I don't know, it might be. Either way works for me.. I just haven't done real pencil art in a while, so I thought I should begin with a simple photo ^^
I've done portrairs and stuff with real person modeling for me, but I've grown to be quite insecure with my work in the past few years, and don't dare to ask anyone anymore, because I don't wanna show them the result >.<

Do you have a family member you could draw that you wouldn't get embaressed with? For example I have a non-moving grandma who sits all day in her chair = Instant victim, lol.
But seriously, you shouldn't get embaressed at all! This is the best example that you draw extremely well. I find that most people can't draw a decent stick man, thus I end up being showered with praise even when I don't deserve it. I'd bet anything that if you use a non-drawing friend/family member you'll get the same results.
Plus torturing people by forcing them to stay still for hours is very fun, no? It should be an art form of it's own.

I suppose I could try to ask some of them, but I really don't feel comfortable showing my work to the people around me. Weird XD
Well I know. I USED TO use them as models and show them my work, and I did get praised A LOT. Maybe a little too much. I don't know why, but a couple of years ago I started keeping my stuff, including my art, totally to myself. It didn't feel like the right thing to do, so I joined dA. BUT after joining dA I stopped drawing... That's why my gallery doesn't have the best of work YET.
Haha, that's so true! I had the habit of nagging them when they made the slightest move, like stopped/started smiling, just to torture them XD
