XD That's what everyone is telling me. I think I worked 3 hours on it, 30 minutes for baking, and spent about $10.00 on all the things I needed to make it. So I got paid a little under 10 bucks an hour. But yes. Now something like that goes for $60. I'm learning to charge better for my services.

Oh yeah, absolutely. So far though my clients are friends and friends of friends who are looking for a great product at an affordable price. Believe me, when the economy picks up and I can start my own business the price is absolutely going up. I thought about going to Culinary school too so that I could be a full time decorator instead of it being one of my many jobs. Costume designer/seamstress/Mural artist/Make-up artist/Hair Design/ECT. Right now I'm booked in all of these areas for the next 2 months. It's crazy up in here. XD

Also! (Sorry to spam you with messages ) I completely support what others have said, I would expect to pay around £50-£70 for this cake, easily. Without going to a specialist cake maker, you couldn't buy anything like the quality of this on the high-street. The supermarkets charge excessively for a few stars or basic flowers on top of a plain white icing cake, so something of this detail and beauty has got to have a decent price tag. I'd pay £50 easily for it (so $80ish? I think ^^)
Again, sorry for spam, but damn that's one heck of a cake ^^

If this cake was intended for me, I'd have cried on receiving it. It is absolutely divine!
The bunnies and the ducks and the waterfall... I would have made a spot in the display cabinet to keep this forever...
Everything about it is wonderful. I LOVE the fact that it's not just one big traditionally shaped cake, the little cupcakes around the edge give it such character.
You must have been so proud of this ^^ I'm only recently trying my hand at cake decorating, this would be my "level 10", the Champion standard to aspire to Thank you SO much for sharing this with us

1) I love this cake. Very imaginative how you used cupcakes and a round cake together in the same project, and made it look cohesive. Also, you've made the idea of a "spring pond" come across very clearly to the viewer, for which I applaud you. Very nice job.
2) I think (and this is just my opinion) that how much you charge for your cake should be in part dependent on how much you feel they are worth. How much time did you put into it? How much cake, icing, and other resources did you use? (Here, I'm not suggesting that you total up how much money you spent on everything you used and add that to the cost, just take into account that a more complex cake should cost more than a simplistic one.) Also, how polished is the final piece, does it follow the idea/theme that your customer had in mind, and is the customer happy with it?
Personally, I believed that you COULD HAVE charged more for this cake, but if you're not comfortable with doing so, or feel like $40 is an appropriate amount for a cake like this, that is completely your call. If I saw this cake on display in a store, I would not be surprised to see it priced around at least $50-60. Again, nice job on the cake.

Such a shame it's a cake & people have to eat it.
With that said, this is a spectacular work of art. I always have to stop & admire such creativity, especilly when it's made from food.

Food arts the best. Who knew my boredom in high school which led to making edible animals out of starbursts would come in handy as an actual thing I get PAID to do. Ridiculous.
Thanks so much for the comment.

oh...and you totally charged too little... did you take into consideration how much you paid for the materials? i don't think you should be breaking even on this.. you definitely should be getting profit. ^^ I'm going to say at least $75...$110 i know it sounds like a lot, but geepers...have you seen the flowers!? O_o just look at em...

That is amazing! It is so beautiful!
If I had it, I would have a very hard time wanting to eat it and destroy its beauty.
And I truly believe $40 is way too little to charge for it. You could have easily charged at least double of what you sold it for.

Thank you! I'll keep that pricing in mind. I'm trying to be as fair as I can in the economy, but really undercharging isn't being fair to myself.

Definetly too little! That's an amazing work and sure took lot of time for such a beautiful and yummy thing! Have to remember that maybe if you raise it too much peole wouldn't spend money on it, sometimes is better little money than no requests at all... but in my opinion is definetly worth it! try to raise it a bit more next time and keep up the cuteness!
