I'm glad you like my original character. Its very encouraging. 
That supposed "official" manga shouldn't be on bookshelves in my opinion. Its one thing for the artwork to be bad, but I think its the author to blame for the real reason the comic is so terrible. It doesn't matter how good or how bad the art is, if the story sucks so does the comic. If the story rocks, so does the comic.

Anyway, it's good to know, original stories with new characters don't need to be forcefully romance-themed. It's kinda sad not everybody understands that and tries to pair characters no matter what.
Yeah...the manga was sorta discouraging. I think the only good thing about it was the cover...and the pages were not really drawn as the cover...
