So this print ended up oddly becoming kind of bittersweet, as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and MvC 2 are being pulled from Xbox Live and PSN tonight.
I grew up on Capcom games, and always loved Bengus’ art style, so when I bought the MvC artbook a few weeks back I got the crazy idea that it’d be a cool challenge to draw all of my favorite characters in an homage to the MvC cover. It took about a week straight penciling, inking, and coloring 48 of my favorite characters (and E. Honda, because Adam asked and I didn’t remember he wasn’t actually in any MvC game).
I entertained the thought of doing all 85 or so characters in two prints, but I really need to keep chipping away at Dragon Slayer Vol. 3 if it’s going to be done anytime soon.

If you haven’t played MvC in any capacity, I’d buy it tonight before it gets taken off of XBLA and PSN. It’ll take you for a ride

I used to live for MvC2 on XBLA... with Cable, Iron Man and B.B. Hood! Played online a lot during 2011 when MvC3 was popular.

Yeah, and unfortunately my brother sold his 360 when he got the Xbox One, so I don't really have access to MvC2. Yeah, maybe through an emulator but that doesn't count IMO.
Would love to go to a real MvC2 tournment at an arcade or something. Just have to look for an old-school FGC in my area. I would destroy everyone with Baby Bonnie! XD

Nooo! I always miss that game when it's gone, and it's oddly hard to emulate, I think.
The quickest way I've found is the Dreamcast disk with a Dreamcast Emulator.
And that would be cool!

The versus series was one of the ways I got into comics and fighting games in general. This is an amazing tribute piece!

Phew. I'm glad I held on to my copy of MVC 2. I almost deleted to make room for that GTA IV install. But this is awesome! I always loved seeing this iconic MvC piece done in different styles by different artists and this one is no exception!

What did capcom and marvel have some rights issues going on again? I mean even if I deleted it I still have my good 'ol Dreamcast (pronounced "Du-ri-mu-kya-su-to") version so all in all I still got a copy either way. I remember when I worked at GameStop way before mvc2 was rereleased, a copy on PS2 used cost upwards of $80 US and it kept going up as the years went on.

Yes! And yes! It's super rare on the PS2. I've got the Dreamcast version as well.
I really wish they'd release a PSP/Vita version, but I guess MvC3 is out, so it's kind of silly to wish
for it.
And I think it's on Marvel's end, potentially with Disney. Who knows?

Word on the internet street is that it's due to their licensing with Marvel/Disney and that some license with some character
must be expiring at the end of this year.

Only suggestion I can think of is that Juggernaunt can be a little bigger.

Thanks! I hope it ends up being worth all the time I put into it, but it was a fun experiment. This and the Ghibli set
were two big challenges this year, not to mention Dragon Slayer. I'm chipping away at issue 3 right now. It's like twice the
work of the first two issues, but that's the price for epicness
