Description This production was fueled by Nos and orange juice 8D

Overall this took me three hours to style. That's not counting the fifteen minutes I spent just staring at the thing wondering what to do.

This is my first time really styling/spiking a wig, I've cut a Namine wig and a Zexion wig and just styled those a bit, and I've spiked low-budget Sora's hair twice (once was in the middle of a hallway 8D). But this was something entirely new for me.

I was learning as I went and I just went layer by layer starting in the back and working my way to the front. The back and top were actually pretty easy, it was the front that I had trouble with. The wig that I got wasn't made to do what I made it do, it had a part (I kind of killed it) that made this thing a bitch to style.

But overall I'm quite proud of this 83
Though I felt really bad for ruining this really pretty wig for about a minute when my mom came in when I was doing the front. She said, 'You're cutting it?!' in such a horrified voice that I felt terrible.

But that soon passed xD

I named the wig Soothsayer. After the character in the Tragedy of Julius Caesar, because he has such an awesome name and whenever I think of the name I see the student teacher with a black bed sheet wrapped around him. Then he rips the sheet off, pulls out a light saber, and says 'BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH.'
8D

And I didn't bother putting any make-up on, I finished this thing at 9:45 at night. I'll do a picture with the full costume later.

Hey dude, I'm a complete styling noob (I'm only good at making cosplay props xD) but I got a wig, much like the one you started with, and it needs shaping before halloween lol. How easy was this for you to do, and do you think a beginner could get the job done? TIA

This wig was EXTREMELY difficult to style. But I was (and still am) a beginner. I would say find some really good styling tutorials and just read up on styling wigs. Then go for it :3

'Soothsayer' wasn't a name, but a term for someone who can see into the future, much like an Oracle, but I agree, it's an awesome name.

What materials did you use to actually style it? Like what were the brand names and so forth?

I used Got2Be products to style it. :3

Huh, that's what my friend and I used to style her hair as Axel, we got shoulder-length curls to, not only stay strait, but also to defy gravity, it was pretty epic, even if it didn't look exactly like his.

The original wig looks identical to my value village special, that now I have to buy a ton of extensions for to thiken the thing up cus the mesh is showing really badly..And it's falling apart. Great job,you are now my inspiration to get my crappy wig done.

I'm gonna hawk you now XD right... whats that nos thingy? and the got2be products you used... what are they called and where could i get them?

Started my own saix wig yesterday with nothing but a comb and determination!! it's failing... and is there anyway i could straighten the wig? HELP ME SENSEI!!!

CheshireMax In reply to Dustypanther [2009-05-28 02:33:11 +0000 UTC]

Nos is an energy drink, but be warned if you don't have a high tolerance to caffeine it will screw you over.

I got the got2be stuff at my local grocery store. You can buy them online though, just look it up.

As for straightening, try hanging it somewhere (in a bathtub or just on your head in the bathtub) and pour warm (not too hot or it'll melt) water over it, that should straighten it. Then let it air dry. I've never had to use this method but this is what practically everyone says to do (the other way is using a hairdryer, but I don't trust it).

Would you recommend this wig for Saix cosplays? o:

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CheshireMax In reply to Enchanted3Massacre [2009-04-14 04:04:47 +0000 UTC]

That is actually a tough question xD
I would say no, because the wig I got WAS NOT supposed to be styled how I styled it. And I personally think that it's the wrong color, if I could do it again I would get a white wig and dye it a lighter shade of blue.
I used this wig because it was within my budget range and the closest color I could find without dyeing it myself.
