It's always hard to see one of these scenes. My nephew is in the Army right now and I worry about him. He hasn't been deployed yet but, they might be going next year.

Oh ... This photo is too poignant, is an image that unfortunately too often we get to see.
I can not say anything but a prayer for him and his family
Here I wrote this poem for all these Heroes
Although written in Italian, I want to devote the same > [link]

This is a very poignant photo. I favourited and then un-favourited because I wasn't sure how appropriate that was, given the title that fashion of storing it had. Instead, I'll just say that I appreciate your bravery in taking this photograph, the bravery of the man who died, and of his family. It means a great deal, whether or not that is understood by most.

Thank you. It is my job though, to take photos. That's what the Army pays me to do. Faving is appropriate if you feel it is. Thanks for looking, and thanks for the amazing comment, and thank you for know what exactly this photograph means.

This is such a touching moment.

Six yrs ago this was one of my biggest fears... never seeing my husband again.

I'm so grateful for everything the men/women fighting for our country do.

Thank you for posting this, it's very beautiful.

This is a very touching shot, and I need to honor that before I relay the following story. My very sincere thanks to every veteran, especially all those who have paid the ultimate price, and their families.

I'm an Air Force brat. My father was in the Air Force and both grandfathers we in the Army Air Corps.

But I have a funny story that is not meant to lighten the mood of the moment above.

My grandfather's funeral was like this. They presented the flag to my grandmother. Full ritual of carefully folding the flag, and all that, presenting the flag, and everything all involved. After she was holding the flag, she turned to my mother, and said in a VERY loud whisper (apparently her hearing was going), "did you see all the medals?!!"

Only my grandmother could make people smile at a funeral.

Thank you so much.

I am a photographer in the Army, I have an older brother who was in the Marine Corps, my husband is also a photographer in the Army. My brother is my freaking hero.

Your story made me laugh pretty hard! I can just imagine a sweet old lady turning around and say something like that during a funeral!

I think the ONLY time you're allowed to smile at a funeral is when the significant person in the deceased's life smiles. Other than that, it's just rude.

Right. She's now deceased, herself. But I love how funny that moment was.

It's a beautiful ceremony, though. Thank you for capturing a serious moment.

Those poor families...they and our brave troops are definitely in my prayers!

I am saddened to know of this, to see the pain in the faces of both parents, then again that's what I am facing. My grandfather Cold War USAF vet is dying in the hospital, sometimes I wish he could be saved but I don't want him to live in pain and through machinery, that is not living. But I. Also don't want him to die, but I can't help it both his parents are waiting up in heaven. Just like this brave soldier gave his service, my grandfather gave his. I'll have to let him go....like a hero going home. May this soldier rest in piece fir all eternity and may the best of things befallen my grandfather.
