Don't play dragon quest 9: sentinels of the starry skies, or you'll be playing forever. ALL DLC QUESTS ARE NOT DOABLE, AND THERE ARE QUESTS THE REQUIRE YOU TO COMPLETE THE DLC QUESTS. DLC QUESTS HAVE TO BE COMPLETED TO FILL THE DEFEATED MONSTER LIST AS WELL. (congratulations Nintendo, you just trapped every one who likes to monster-clock their games forever by eliminating Wi-Fi connectivity for games like DQ:9)

In my most recent defeat of Corvus I only used one sages elixir (I use Gigagash ALOT, it is the most op sword move ever). I never once changed the vocation of any of my party members
the vocations and names of my party are: Dirk=warrior, Sholtoriest, Sonia=mage and Kreelin=minstrel.
Dirk uses a demonΒ spear, Sholto & Sonia both use a sage's staff and Kreelin uses Erdrick's sword unless I'm hunting metal slimes and their improvements because I have an Uber-falcon blade for that (2x attacks FTW!)

even then if thou art on PC there be the mods bewitching thee with question like "what is the final boss battle of the main quest line was more epic" and random excitement the like of "attack of the giant mudcrabs" and simple joy such as "exploding chickens" and how lightly clad and voluptuous one can have his polygon maiden be.

This is why I try to avoid games like Skyrim: I'll wind up trying to do everything.

That's what happened to me. At first I ditched all sidequests and just did the main storyline. Now I'm trying to complete everything like a crazy motherf***er. XD

Now see, what I do is head toward the main objective but then get distracted by some random collectible which leads to a minor task which leads to an optional dungeon which leads to part 1 of a sidequest which leads to me being over-leveled by the time I actually stop and focus on the main mission because I can't progress until I actually play the story mode. @__@

I'm stuck in the same boat right now too. lol
I actually had tried playing it once, but I wound up with too many quests at once and I just got too overwhelmed so I quit. Recently I started over with a new character and intentionally avoided starting new quests until I had finished the previous ones. Works a lot better that way.

I didn't like Skyrim compared to the previous games. While the system felt streamlined and the gameplay was improved greatly, the game felt much too simplified for me to enjoy it as an RPG. Fun as an action/adventure though. Also felt the world lacked a personality sometimes, and the main story was entirely skippable for me. In fact, my most recent play-through involved avoiding the dragon in Whiterun and just playing the entire game as an average adventurer trying to make his way around Skyrim by using only his fists.Β

I think the game might have been better if it was simply an adventurer game.

I actually liked the courier system they put in Skyrim, it always gave you a sense of impending doom when doing the bounty's or the dark brotherhood contacted you

The bottom sums up what folks see in the game, at least one thing.

Have fun grinding out insane amounts of resources to furnish your custom homes then.
It does amuse me though that you put "it's not linear" as an automaticΒ negative though, that's almost as silly as saying "it's linear" as an automatic negative.

Grandia, Final Fantasy, Tales of series... I'm just saying I was brought up on RPGs where you have one clear goal and the rest is sidequests. Skyrim on the other hand is one giant sidequest, and I'm not sure which path to take. This confuses me and I'm not very comfortable with it. I'm not saying that the game's bad, though.

Still, it's not exactly like sandboxes are a new thing, even for RPGs.

I'm with you on the last panel, Which is true for any game that is non-linear and is free roaming.
