No, i didn't call you a barbarian... my little brother did and i apologyse for that (you are fluent in english, right?)
Altough your answer makes me wonder what kind of education you got?... Why are you so angry with the westerns and other asians?... why do you try to make political propaganda in this picture?... Why are you so closed minded?

The problem here is that these foreign countries are trying to impose their values, which are not absolute, on our culture, thereby undermining thousand year old traditions of the fatherland.
Political propaganda? Which picture do you speak of? I did not make this anti whaling poster you know.

Ok, i respect your point of view... but lets stop talking about cultural values and start talking about ecology...
Now, i dont really now if any goverment is truly interested in aculturating Japan, and to be sincere, i dont want know... But i do know that the whales are vital part for the development of a healthy sea (just like the precense of sharks in coral reefs) and lets be honest, the entire planet (specially the asians above all) need the ocean for industrial exploitation, if whales dissapears from the oceans, the entire food chain will go to hell and if that happens, most of the fish that are used for importation and exportation (including yellow tail tuna) may be in risk of dying, and if they die, a great deal of the world economy will just drown too (specially in asia), i am not talking of industrial fishing only, also the turistic industry in small countries need the whales and some cultures consider the whales to be sacred (at least thats the case in my country).
This is not a political issue, is ecological.
The political propaganda i was talking about was that part of calling us western "barbarians" and to incite racism agaisn't non japanese by exploiting nationalism... you should support dialogue and non violent solutions for this problem.
The picture i'm talking about is this picture of the male whale asking the female whale for some and i know you didn't do the picture.

Japan is not over-exploiting the whales!
If anything, it was western fuel whaling that caused them to go down to these numbers, not Japanese subsistence whaling (sure, Japan did whale for fuel, but only for a relatively short amount of time and only because of the Western influence).
Because its blatantly obvious (just go to the damn ICR page and look at the numbers) Minke whales (or any other species being studied by Japan (to provide scientific evidence to overturn the western moratorium) are not going extinct at this rate of harvest. There is a problem with the ecology, but you people should put your energy on something that is actually screwing it up, like the fact that people dump loads of nasty things in the water.
Its rather confusing when you refer to two things as if they were one. That aside, if you don't want to incite nationalism and be called nasty things, leave the fatherland as it is! The whaling operation does not hurt anybody; it is not making the population overall decline, but no, a bunch of dim-witted terrorists have to come over and throw nasty bottles at us. Good job at decreasing popular support of whaling in Japan.
Cows are considered sacred in India. That is no reason why you or I should not eat them. And Japan is not your country; you (nor any foreigner) have no right to interfere with affairs of the fatherland as long as it does not affect you.

Yes, Japan is over exploiting whales... the very own studies made by japanese biologist give us very interisting results about the amount of whales in the japanese seas, there are less than 200 whales in your seas and the fun part is that the number of whales is decreasing with every year... so very few of them are surviving. Resently i was reading a study made by international agencies of United Natios about the japanese expoiting whales for diferent purposes among them canned food for high and middle schools (, fuel, heating and even energy... the funny part, is that all the uses you give to the whale derived products can be easyli substituted with diferent kinds of material from other non endangered animal and even from minerals... Western influence?... can you please explain this?
What part of scientific research are you talking about when even the very own japanese goverment tell the world that they used whale derived products for comercial and industrial issues or are you calling your own goverment a liar (no surprises there tough)?... canned food? fuel? energy?... where is the scientific part in all that?... the even funnier part is that the industry of the whale hunting made by the japanese goverment reach the 6 millions yens since 2003... they hunt for money, there is no other reasons, even the IWC says that the experimentation on whales is only usefull in pro whaling countrys like Iceland and Japan (curious, the "research" of the IWC is considered one of the worst porjects in the entire planet)... scientific research? yeah right
Leave the fatherland as it is?... i am not doing anything to your fatherland at all, but i do am critizing your point of view and i got the right to do so, no matter how closed minded you are. This people who reads your comments arent barbarians, this people who are reading your comments arent "ignorant pigs", this people might be even smarter than you are, you should learn to be more humble (figures, a hispanic telling this to a japanese).
Whe are not interested in interfering with your culture, whe are not interested in making the japanese people less japanese, whe are interested in protecting a very low population of whales who, by the way, are killed in a brutal way during the hunting... a harpon that emits electric shocks and making them bleed to death? My God that is brutal no matter how you put it.
Good thing i hate cow meat (altough i love chicken)... the problem here, my friend, is that the actions of your goverment afects me and my country directly, whales are an incredibly important part for the biodiversity of my country and the turistic industry. Your goverment have already entered in the seas of the centralamerican nations (specially Costa Rica, El Salvador and Mexico in Northamerica) to illegaly fish in our national parks, they even hunt whales and other fishes that are protected by our laws.

I'm going to have to make this quick, pardon me.
Go read JAPRA, up to 2000 Minke whales a year can be harvested without affecting population.
We are not "exploiting" the whales, we are using it carefully as a resource, one that CAN deplete and one that we won't let depleted.
-The Japanese government loses considerable amounts of money in the JAPRA studies
-Purpose of the JAPRA is to show the West that whaling is viable, which it has multiple times but the West seems to ignore this
By supporting anti-whaling, you put yourself and your comrades at direct odds with preservation of the cultural heritages of the fatherland. Think about it.
I don't think civilized people would support a bunch of molotov throwing terrorists, who target fishermen and scientists.
Like I have said before, the WHALING IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR CULTURE. Getting rid of it would be getting rid of integral element of said culture!
Anyway, if you actually go look at ICR, you will see that large percentage of the whales die instantaneously, and the rest dies in less than a minute, unless there are terrorists in the vicinity who actually distract the harpoon gunners and causes longer kill times. Not that much more brutal than killing cows, dolphins, or chickens, IMHO.
Your country directly? The whaling is done in international waters, too small scale to affect the ecosystem. I don't think the illegal fishing has anything to do with this, as whales are not being hunted there, as far as I know, and I condemn any illegal fishing in other countries' national parks.
