I dunno. In a way, Chrono Trigger is like Square's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"; it was this big impressive crossover of talent from Square and Enix (pre-merger) and it resulted in this super awesome RPG.
If Square-Enix remade it now, they'd probably hit all the characters with the retard stick and have Tetsuya Nomura redesign everything to look like something 14 year old girls would "squee" for.
That is, unless we're talking remakes like Final Fantasy 3 and Final Fantasy 4 are getting. I might be down for that!

It's a complicated matter.
Although I would love to see a remake of Chrono Trigger, I don't know if that is the best thing to do. After all you yourself complain about franchise-milking, but what else would a remake be?
Why don't we ask for an original game, with a different franchise, that has the beauty of Chrono Trigger?

Though unfortunatly there probably won't be a remake, as the majority of the team that made CT left Square and formed thier own company. They were the ones behind the Xenosaga games. They tried to get permission to remake Xenogears ( another awesome RPG, very in-depth ) and Square basically told them since thier was no realy money in it for them, to go to hell.
