I've been wanting to create an ID for myself for awhile. About two months ago, I had the idea to spice it up by seeing how well I could draw myself using other cartoonists' styles. First I chose a handful of animators and comic artsts who have influenced me in some way, then I looked up references of each of them and replicated them, right down to the different styles of inking, shading, and coloration they use. The result is the same subject (myself) cast in 14 different lights. The only one of these I didn't hand draw myself, obviously, was the South Park one. well, cartoons in artistic styles certainly have varied, but that's always been true of the cartoon. It's the subject material that gets covered, probably more than anything, that's changed; whither it more more insightful or informative now or then is really dependable upon the cartoon. I can't quite think of much of anything that was more imaginative than the early betty boops, nor anything quite as beautifully satiric and sincere as the simpsons.
It's all just a different give and take.

I can spot styles from shows like Charlie Brown, Disney cartoons, Simpsons, Futurama, Beavus and Butthead, Garfield, South Park, Jhonny the Homicidal Maniac and another anime style I can't put my finger on right now...Hmmm. Well enough about that, you've gotten a great idea going with this piece of art!
