What a cool bunch of characters for your future comic strip!
Hello! I'm Nickolas (autistic 18-year old big-hearted dreamer)! How's today? How are you? What can I call you? Care to see my profile and journal if you'd like?

It's a comic strip I draw, though it's called Forever 16 now. Has nothing to do with the Beatles, but feel free to stick around and read if you want

I just stumbled upon this--it looks really neat! Like it could've aired on Fox Kids in the 90's.

Congratulations and rgards! I try find the particular references about those cutties! Lovely way and styles for drawing them! You just forgot the likes and dislikes about them! Out of that the linearts and profiles as this is something what I likes it and collect!

Thank you, though for what it's worth, this piece is five years old now. Like just about everything else I drew before 2011 or so, I consider it pretty abominable to look at - definitely not my best work at all. You'd be better off checking out my more recent Forever 16 stuff, now that I've actually learned how to draw my own characters.

I've been looking at these comics in consecutive order from way back in your gallery, and I'd like to say that I'm really enjoying it so far. I like how you've designed the cast members' tastes in movies, music and TV to match the 90's. It's perfect!

Michelle is hot. Plus all the mention of 1990s classics makes me smile. All my favorite movies and shows like Clerks and South Park and Pulp Fiction and Etc.
I love how the geeky looking guy with the glasses is a High School athlete.

Aaron likes Futurama huh? Well, technically Futurama did appear in the late nineties, so I'll let this one pass

March 28, 1999 - that's pretty early in the year. This strip latches onto pop culture very quickly. (And besides, I recently expanded it to include the 2000s anyway.)

Actually, it's a reference to my own dad's mustache. He shaved it off this past year, but I always considered it to be one of his trademarks, so it "lives on" through William.

Why did you name your comic Maxwell Silver Hammer?
π: 0 β©: 1
jbwarner86 In reply to Melkitty [2008-10-04 03:44:56 +0000 UTC]
It's in the same vein as "FoxTrot" - a title that works as a pop culture-referencing pun and also includes the name of the central characters. (And also, it's a pretty good song.)

The name is from that Beetle's song, right? I'm pretty new to this, but from what I can see, pretty good line up and character study.
It's always good to do something like that once in a while.

Oh, they do - I just chose to highlight the ones that they don't have in common, so that there'd be more variety. For instance, Joel and Aaron both thought Tommy Boy was genius, and Joel and Michelle both enjoyed Pulp Fiction to the point where they quoted it endlessly on one of their dates.

Hey... have you ever thought of drawing them in the present day, i.e., if they gotten older OR they stayed the same age, but their interests and such reflected the present? If not, that should be neat to see...

Hey, they say to write what you know...
The whole Maxwell family is based on my own, really. Tina is a bit more exaggerated than my own mother in her efforts to censor what her kids watch and listen to, but other than that, I drew straight from my own experiences.

The only place I've heard "Amano" before was Jeff Amano, the principal cover and poster illustrator for "Beckett PokΓ©mon Collector" magazine in the late '90s and early '00s.
