I drew this piece because (1) you guys suggested it. and (2) I am fascinated by battle/historical events; fictional or real. In war, there are no winner, only losers; this is why I depict both side as equal. There are men and women from both sides doing good and evil acts, but so often are we told only one side of the story, that we quickly labelled anyone who is not with us an enemy. While working on this piece, I am grateful to know that there are so many brave men and women fighting to defend those who are not able to. fighting to protect their honor and duty to their country. At the dawn of civilization, a king would be at the front of the army. this act gives courage to every men under them-that if their king is willing to die for them, they should be willing to die for their king. It is then, that they are truly equal. While Darius is not a king, he does embodied the qualities to become one.
