This is just wrong!! Wolfs should not just be shot down and left it's practcaly the same as hunting for fun! If anyone's gonna hunt it should be for food or something the NEED not to get rid o something they don't ie or for fun! (Sorry this kinda thing ticks me off) Great picture you did an awsome job

Okay, here's my thin. I don't agree with aerial hunting of any species, but wolf hunting is starting to become more popular. Wolf populations growing too high devastates the elk, deer, coyote, and other populations. When the populations get too high, hunting comes in handy - hunting a few wolves not only benefits the surviving wolves but the other populations.

Hunters are killing wolves so there are more elk and deer to hunt and mount on their wall

First of all, it's illegal to hunt wolves at the moment so they aren't. Second of all, it's not just the hunters that want the wolves to be harvested - it's everyone that enjoys going into the forest and seeing animals that aren't torn apart.

wolves arent overpopulated.deer and elk are.deer and elk grow really fast, and in wolf packs, soemtimes no pups form the litter survive, and if any do,its only like 1

Deer and elk don't grow very fast when wolves are tearing the unborn calves out of females.

Deer and Elk are hunted more frequently than wolves. Besides, isn't having the prey population higher than the predator population a good thing? Without the elk and deer populations higher, the wolves would be starving to death.

I love your comments on hereepic win!
But I need to point out: In montana wolf tags sell for about 11 to 12 dollars each, while elk tags are about thirty dollars. I am not saying wolves are hunted more than elk, just informing you that if the inhabitants of montana say that the elk population is drastically low, and the wolf population is as high as they document it to be, would'nt it make sense for the wolves to be hunted more frecuently then the elk?

It would make sense to hunt the wolves more frequently, but then you have the idiots to the East and the far West that think that the wolves are endangered still. I honestly believe that the people who have control over the wolves should be the ones that live here, not the ones that live hundreds of miles away.

I like to think about it this way; for every wolf you hunt, you save about 15+ elk. Really, it is. If you want to determine whether a species is endangered or not, spend at least a month in the area.

Yea, I guess. I hate how they have this whole political war over in the northern rockies though with judge molloy. The hunters are almost always right on their facts, except for one: The yellowstone wolves that were reintroduced into the area arent canadian wolves. that, and surplus killing isnt for fun.

Yeah. I hate him. Technically, they are Canadian Wolves because they were born in Canada and they are used to Canada and haven't adapted to Southeastern Idaho.

I dont hate him, but I think he was a little *out* when he made his decision.
Not really.I am not really saying that they were not born in canada. The Montana ranchers complain that they have canadian "super wolves". Stronger, and bigger than the yellowstone wolves. But if that was true, thn why arent all the moose and elk in canada dead by now? It doesnt make much sense when you get down to it.

UnrelatedTalents In reply to EchoTheWhiteWolf [2010-09-02 21:20:04 +0000 UTC]
Yes, but if you think about it, the animals in Canada are stronger because they're used to harsher conditions, so it's very likely that the wolves are adapted to be strong too.

Yes they do!But It is almost worse in california with their coyotes (here I go with the coyotes again!) One of my family members in california almost lost their dog, a neighbor of theirs lost their cat, and another's kid got badly attacked by those urbanised(damn my spelling skills) coyotes. I dont know what my problem is with coyotes. Maybe I have latraniphobia or something.

But here in America, we have so many wolves we dont know where to put them all.

That's okay. I understand that feeling. Oh, I haven't heard of that... Actually, there's a group in the southern states that is promoting reintroducing wolves into all of the lower 48 states... I think that's absolutely rediculous.

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to UnrelatedTalents [2010-09-03 02:47:06 +0000 UTC]
Really? Oh my god. That is....that would be laughable if it werent so concerning. It makes me concerned about their mental health.
I understand we're pretty much backing nature into a corner, but the damage is done. Wolves are apex predators, they are supposed to rip things to shreds and kill and eat things regardless of whether it is a baby animal, pregnant animal, human, ect. An animal doesnt see a human and thinks "Oh, tha's a human I cant touch a human." they think either "oh, that's a pedator, they will kill me." and run away, or they think "Ooh, easy food" and go in for the kill. The world is complicated, especially when you are an animal rights activist, and a hunting supporter.

Yep.Last time I checked, feral dogs and wild dogs love the tatse of garbage. And we all know how dangerous feral dogs are. They are like desperate wolves. They are weak, so they target us. So basically, that group you were talking about who want to put wolves in the 48 states, should look at gruesome feral dog attacks. They are like a preview of what would happen if wolves lived in the lower 48 states.
Sorry, I'm rambling.

If your introducing them into every state, then you're asking for a record low decrease of the elk and deer populations. It would be an utter disaster for everyone.

EchoTheWhiteWolf In reply to UnrelatedTalents [2010-09-03 03:12:58 +0000 UTC]
Yes, exactly. The wolfaboos just dont seem to comprehend that.
I wonder how the elk population sustained itself before the white men came to america? I dont know, but it must have been hard. Nature is a bitch.
I love wolves, but I dont want them to starve to death. If I had to shoot one, I would. Would I enjoy it? No, that's a little morbid. But I definetly know that we have to control the population.
I'd also rather teach wolfaboos the truth about hunting rather than troll them and make them hate hunters forever. But it's hard to get anything through their thick skulls.
