An Apex predator? Not hostile?

Not hostile to humans. In fact, true blooded wolves, (wolves not breed with canines of a different class,) areafraid of humans and will keep well away from any area with their scent. Red Wolves are wolf-cayote hybrids and are slightly smaller but VERY dangerous.

As someone who's lived in the woodlands his entire life, I know a little something about wolves, coyotes. They are plenty hostile to humans, especially when they are hungry.

all they do is defend themself.for all you know, they might actually be protecting a hidden pup!

where've you lived? (what state) Because from where I lived in Michigan's Upper Penninsula, wolves are extremely nervous animals towards humans. Cayotes are just vicious little motherfuckers. THEY should be hunted, as a fellow rural dweller you GOTTA agree with me here. :/

I think you misunderstood me there. I don't like the fact that people are doing it, and yeah I hate the hunting of canines in general. But the Hardened Northerners I used to live with are still going out drunk and shooting anything that moves, and it pisses me off.

Southern Missouri, it's woods, woods and more woods. Coyotes are a problem, they will kill domesticated animals left outside, but when you get wolves adapting to hunting livestock, you have a huge problem. Because if the wolves get used to picking off people's cattle, instead of hunting their own prey, other wolves learn from them. Kill the offending wolves, the chain is broken, they go back to hunting in the wild, where they are supposed to be.

Trelewis3 In reply to SherbertTCat [2010-04-26 20:35:48 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. But if you're going to kill offending wolves, don't you think you should at least do it man to man (pardon the expression). Aerial hunting almost always results in a wolf getting peppered really bad and bleeding out, as opposed to a quick and painless death. But ya gotta remmember, man. We're all just tryin to survive.

SherbertTCat In reply to Trelewis3 [2010-04-26 20:45:33 +0000 UTC]

That's got more to do with the caliber of bullet fired, and the aim of the hunter. Wolves fall under "large" game. You can't go shooting at large game with a smaller kind of bullet, because they bleed out. It's why hunting deer with a .22 is illegal. You want the animal to drop dead in seconds, if not instantly. It's also why you have to know your kill zones properly.

Trelewis3 In reply to SherbertTCat [2010-04-26 21:57:15 +0000 UTC]

right, but aerial hunting uses buckshot :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SherbertTCat In reply to Trelewis3 [2010-04-26 22:33:01 +0000 UTC]

Well then that's a problem. Buckshot is meant for hunting deer in close range brush.

Trelewis3 In reply to SherbertTCat [2010-04-26 23:17:11 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. As opposed as I am to wolf hunting, if you must, use a .30.

you know some times I think to myself and wonder... If humans are scared of wolves, hate wolves, or are just stupid, then why put something on this earth that is going to die if we don't take care of it? It's just a thought though.

This picture reminds me of ths place while I was on a field trip... it has a wolf skin on the wall. My freind pointed it out and when we had some extra time there were some girls by it from my class. I din't hear what they said, but when they walked away. I heard this voice... I don't know what it was... but then in my mind it was like the wolf's last words. I think I remember what it said.

Mankind is horrible. How would we like it if our family was killed by monsters? Horrible, right? We would feel worse if we never had a chance, like these poor creatures.

It's not a sport! It's not defending! It's MURDER!

I HATE aerial wolf hunting!!! There are no words to express my hate for it! And the people act like "Oh, look at the big wolf I caught!" That's not hunting! That's murder! Flying in a plane over a wolf is a cruel advantage! *pant pant* Sorry, getting a little adrenaline here

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chezarawolf In reply to Lordfell [2009-12-29 02:45:31 +0000 UTC]

I completely agree with you. There is no reason for it, and using aeriel advantage is just cowardly.

It's hardly considered hunting.

...............how about we give the hunters a taste of what it feels like? I'll kill anyone who tries to kill another wolf

UnrelatedTalents In reply to WolvesReign13 [2010-08-26 03:47:34 +0000 UTC]

I find this a stupid, hypocritical comment indeed. You say that you believe in Jesus Christ, and yet in the 10 commandments it specifically says that you shouldn't murder another human being, and in the bible it says leave the vengeance for God. Do yourself a favor and either reconsider your religion or rethink this comment.

chezarawolf In reply to WolvesReign13 [2009-11-26 06:09:41 +0000 UTC]

I agree with that. People think just because a creature has fur it doesn't have feelings.

WolvesReign13 In reply to chezarawolf [2009-11-29 03:31:45 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! If they weren't so SCARED of them, they wouldn't kill them. If they are 'sooo not scared of them' than why do they kill them?

ColorKitty97 In reply to ??? [2009-11-21 13:58:58 +0000 UTC]

i want to go up to a wolf hunter and say
"do you have a dog?"
"yes"
"do you like dogs?"
"yes"
"do you like to hunt wolves?"
"yes very much"
"you hate dogs... if it wasnt for wolves you wouldnt have your dog right now, dogs wouldnt exist if wolves were never alive, and this is how you repay them?"
"....."

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

Crazy-L-Fangirl In reply to ColorKitty97 [2010-06-07 11:36:28 +0000 UTC]

But... dogs do not come from wolves. I mean, yeah, Aerial hunting is the most cowardly way to hunt, but dogs don't come from wolves. Some do, since humans in the past has tamed wolves before and such, and it is possible that some do since wolves and dogs can mate. They also both come from one common ancestor from centuries, maybe even a millennium before, but a lot of dogs didn't come from wolves.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ColorKitty97 In reply to Crazy-L-Fangirl [2010-06-07 18:10:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.. But still we should thanks wolves for most of our dogs. But either way. It's still wrong to hunt wolves. It's not right

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crazy-L-Fangirl In reply to ColorKitty97 [2010-06-07 19:13:21 +0000 UTC]

To me, if there isn't some logical reason to why you have to hunt a wolf, it's wrong. Things like 'trying to stop a wolf that may have caught rabies' or even having to defend cattle is understandable and respectable. Even with any animal, if there's a reason why someone hunts them that seem logical, I can understand. Personally, I want to see shark hunting end most of all.
