The art is great but to be honest I dont like shows that promotes homosexuality to kids, and before you bash me no, I dont have anything against gays but this is a cartoon watched by kids that are not mature yet to understand that concept, it's sad cartoon network lost it's filter long ago.

You're kidding right?
1. The show isn't promoting being gay
The gems are all gender less and while they make choose to think of themselves as female, this still isn't promoting being a lesbian.
2. The concept of being gay, being gay isn't exactly a choice you know, being any sexuality isn't a choice its just what you are (attracted) too. This is something that they have always been, so many of the children watching this show may well be gay/lesbian/bi etc the show isn't going to change that. Sexuality is not a mature concept since straight relationships take up 90% of most shows.
Don't you understand the concept of representation? This kind of show is teaching children that this is nature and it's OK, so that they don't grow up thinking that anything than who they are is wrong. Being gay iss natural, it's part of most animal kingdoms, and a quick search will teach you that.
I agree with Jellytix that you should be worrying about yourself and not the children.

So I can draw 2 guys fu*ing say they're aliens for example and it's all good because it's not homosexuality since they are not human? if we'e gonna base solemnly on representation kids could watch ANYTHING these days and the channel get away with it, shows like these are just the beginning. Im a 90's kid I grew up with the first cartoons ever shown in CN and now it kinds of shocks me most of them portray gay relationships and masonery/illuminati symbology (gravity falls) it's like cartoon network does'nt really care anymore about what they show to kids.
Jellytix misunderstood me, I have'nt say homosexuality aint a natural thing, I know it's not a choice I have gay friends and they've told me their stories. Im saying hetero relationships like you say represent a bigger part of the population that's why logically we see more of it in tv and movies.

KarmaDash In reply to StarseedRaven [2016-09-22 18:56:48 +0000 UTC]
... there's nothing explicitly sexual about this show so I don't see how you can compare that to drawing alien sec for kids and be ok. Sexual content shouldn't be in the show anyway. Kissing is hardly anything to worry about.
Gays exist in the world, what's wrong with a child seeing one as a cartoon coupe when they could see them on the street, or in the older shows that are on TV anyway.
There are a lot more heterosexual relationships on TV anyway, it's about time other relationships are shown

let me guess, you're a cis, male and white..I would worry more about all the hetero sex promoted in TV which kids can see everyday
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
StarseedRaven In reply to Jellytix [2016-09-20 12:50:26 +0000 UTC]
No Im hispanic, yes male you got that right, I dont know what cis is though any way whaat? sorry to hurt your feelings but heterosexuality doesn't need to be "promoted" because it's natural thing plus compared to homosexuality comprehends a bigger part of the population that's why you see more movies and tv shows with hetero relationships because there are MORE heteros than homos in any country's population, Im not discriminating Im pointing out a fact ergo nothing it's been "promoted" educate yourself.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Jellytix In reply to StarseedRaven [2016-09-20 14:58:13 +0000 UTC]
So first, if you don't know what that means you should probably educate yourself instead of me and read before you answer. I was pointing out that SEX, not relationships, at well as nudity and women as sexual objects are more present in media which is not good for kids so I would worry more about that than a harmless childrens show.
So basically you are telling me homosexuality is unnatural, because you know what, it's not. That is because we are humans and can think for our self instead of being an instinct only driven animal (and even mother natures instinct only driven animals have proven to be gay sometimes). I know there are more heteros than homos but that doesn't mean non heteros can't have a children show sorta dedicated to them.
I can also tell you that children are perfectly fine and more tolerant against non hetero couples than you are. I'm watching steven universe on a regular base with the children of my friends and relatives and they like the concept of loving who you want without boundaries. You are the one offended about this, maybe worry about yourself, not the children.

StarseedRaven In reply to Jellytix [2016-09-22 15:41:57 +0000 UTC]
I have to educate myself on an urban dictionary term? are you kidding me? ok since we are inferring who we are I guess you're are a 14 yo kid who faps on ponies and watch cartoons all day specially crappy ones like steven universe, pathetic. I havent said homosexuality is unnatural, dont put words in my mouth kid, all Im saying is hetero characters are not promoted like homo characters because is more like a default thing in society and homosexuals represent a minority part of it, something you dont seem to understand at your own age
"I would worry more about all the hetero sex promoted in TV which kids can see everyday"
guess what kid? most of the people on this planet are hetero maaaaaybe that's why you see straight couples on tv all the time, if you are offended by these seems logic doesnt work with you, go watch your cartoons then I wont waste time debating over a lame cartoon series

Jellytix In reply to StarseedRaven [2016-09-22 16:20:55 +0000 UTC]
There's a wikipedia page about cisgender and the word is in the Oxford English Dictionary you uneducated douchebag.
I'm 23 and I'm going to college, and already finished an apprenticeship. Half of my education is based on communication and social behaviour and you're the intolerant scum we're warned about.
What you don't understand is that homosexuality and everything that's not hetero is growing so fast that you have to get used to it.
And we are still talking about children watching the show, you are beding the topic like you want saying the same thing a
gain like a broken record player because you can obviously not reply to all my arguments since you're just too uneducated to understand.
I never said I have a problem with hetero couples can you even read properly? I wrote the following:
"nudity and women as sexual objects" kids can see that everyday on almost every channel and almost all the time of the day. All the "gay" cartoon shows are harmless, they are just gay but do not promote nudity and sex and obviously you have something against gays or you wouldn't mind. Even if gays are promoted, so what? What will happen. Everyone is getting gay because of a show? and IF, then what? You're oppressed by all the gays? ; ( poor boy.
Deal with it and you should have have children btw.
Also since you started this discussion by harassing the artist in the first place, getting salty about debating is just utterly stupid.

I dunno
Never considered it homosexuality.
Though they call each other "she", they're literally rocks. No sex whatsoever. So that's hardly "sexuality".
But eh, I see your point. Though in my humble opinion, the parents should decide if their kids should be watching it.

I respect your opinion but some kids already show signs and feelings of homosexuality from a young age. Im glad you don't have anything against gays tho which is good, but basically cartoon network is just trying to make homosexuality more normal so young kids can grow up to act like Homosexuality is just as normal as Heterosexually.

I myself have gays friends they are the nicest people but this is something different for me, same as gay couples adopting children, aside what society thinks it's ok, talking about the US and europe (not very comming where I come from, latin america) I think it's not right to shows kids these subjects as they will learn by themselves and experiment while they grow up, but I respect your opinion though..

I can respect your opinion, though personally I admire Cartoon Networks promotion of homosexuality. Even if children of young ages do not fully understand the concept of it, it at least gives them some sort of insight as they grow older, for they can make connections through the show and be more comfortable with the idea of same sex couples. But if you don't like the idea, that's cool too

StarseedRaven In reply to LittlemissStitch [2016-09-20 13:02:08 +0000 UTC]
I respect your point of view, but I think kids need to find out and experiment by themselves as they grow up, now need to suggest these themes in cartoons when there is so much more they can learn and be entertained by.

LittlemissStitch In reply to StarseedRaven [2016-09-20 22:12:22 +0000 UTC]
I totally agree with that, I just think if kids could use this show as some sort of comfort to prepare for the future it would give them a better chance of accepting it. Not necessarily becoming homosexual themselves of course, just having something to look back on as they grow older. But again your opinion is yours and my opinion is mine
