IT'S FINALLY DONE!I've been working on this for what seems to be like, forever!
Anyway, this is a portrait of my best friend, and I really do mean BEST
She's always been like a sister to me but then she moved away 3 years ago and I haven't seen her until like, a week ago when she came to visit for her birthday:]
I really worked hard on this and am glad to put all that hard work into a picture of her, she's like my sister:]
so since I've finally figured out how to use photoshop, it's only untill now I've been non-lazy enough to do something non-chibi haha....
anyway, if your reading this description that means your looking at this picture and I thank you for doing so

the structure of the face is proportionate, the pose is natural and the overall piece is really pretty. considering the pose, the midtones and shadows being used are working, but the lack of smoothing gives the skin a clay like texture. Also the lines could be a bit sharper and the eyes a bit more texturing ( these 2 are somewhat minor issues). other than that its really good,keep up the work in photoshop!

Hey, this critique is done on behalf of the Golden Critique Club.
So to start off I'm going to point out what's working with this image. Right now there's an okay sense of structure in the face, the proportions are accurate for the most part and the choices of colour give a good sense of lighting and also accurately portrays flesh. The idea of having the hair flow down past the portrait is an interesting design element. These elements are working really well, but I think they can each be taken a step further.
Speaking in terms of facial structure, it looks good for the most part, but I feel that something is a little bit off. I think it is either that the eyes are just a little bit too far apart, or that they are each a little bit too small. But other then that it is pretty good. Another aspect of this image that could be improved is the silhouette. Right now the two clusters of hair that go to the bottom are a little too even, varying their length a little bit more could make the overall silhouette a more interesting shape, and help lead the eye around the portrait. I also wouldn't cut off the neck with a solid line, maybe have the neck fade into white.
Other than that, there is a lot that is working with this piece. Keep it up.
