Haha, they really do, but you only use a one or two thumb keys at a time really, until you do really low notes.

Bassoon is pretty hard when you first start, but once you get the hang of it, it is a reeeeally fun instrument! When i first started, it was hard to get the fingerings and it had a terrible tone, but i got really good over the course of a few months. I suggest private lessons. Bassoons are just like that, haha ^^

It's sad 'cuz bassoons are cool (I play clarinet, but bassoons are still cool. )

i knoww. Maybe you should ask your band director if you could try playing it for the band. It is a really fun instrument, and usually they will switch clarinet players to it (i switched from oboe though, haha)

Ehh... I think the clarinet was made for me... Besides, our band director sucks. My brother tried switching from tuba to percusion-- He even passed the percussion test-- But Mr. Combs said "Nope, you started out with the tuba, and you're gonna keep playin' it 'till you drop out." So he probably wouldn't let me switch.

Ah, it's okay. Out director may suck, but we've got the best band of any jr. high in our county. Not to brag or anything

haha, there aren't many bassoons, and i'm awesome, so i dont have that type of problems.
I have lots of clarinet friendss!

Awesome!!! At our school, when we reach the 8th grade, we have to learn the Ramsey Alma Matter, the fight song, Paint It Black, and Crazy Train. I CANNOT WAIT
