Hi folks!I meant to upload this last night for June's picture, but I completely forgot! So for June's Patron's choice, the winning idea was redrawing my first shaded picture, and since I actually went and colored and shaded it during the stream, I wanted to upload it here as well!
This month has been really busy - besides things at the office kicking into high gear, I've been doing my best to really buckle down and make some progress on comic pages and revamping my Patreon . I'm not ready to reveal anything right yet, but in the next few weeks I would expect to see a formal announcement about those updates, as well as the first pages of the next chapter in The Start of Something Big!
Anyhow, I really hope you all like this redraw. My lines are a little cleaner, and Takai is a little bigger (there's not even any space for water in there, now!), and it was really nice to go back and spend some time breathing life into an old picture. Have a good one, folks!

I'm glad you like it! That original was something I was really, really proud of way back then.... But looking at it now, I can see all the places where I not only straight up failed, I can see all the corners I cut because I ran out of patience. XD I'm happy I got to correct those sins with this one!

Yeah, ive recently noticed that becomes a problem, running out of patience and missing a spot to color/shade or just winging it because you just wanna finish this picture already! ><
I am more than familiar with that... how do you deal with that btw? How did you learn yo not do that in the future years?

Part of it, I think, was having Takai look over my work and quality check it. She let's me know if I'm being lazy or taking the easy way out at the cost of quality.
The other thing that helps I think is just about time. Give yourself the time to work on something, and if you notice something looks off, give yourself time to fix it. Don't be afraid to redraw something that doesn't look right.

Like I said on the patreon post I loved watching this get drawn on the stream. The coolest thing about this one is how it looks like she's growing out the page.

This looks awesome Chibi! I love how you incorporated the png art with the foreshadowing. I don't think I've ever seen that done anywhere else.

That part was actually easier than I thought it would be... I just added a layer of shadow behind everything, and then set the opacity to 50%, and you get the semi-transparent shadow on the background! ^__^
