This is a fanart present of Captain Jack Sparrow for ~The-Random-One . I promised her some Pirates art last year, and because I get lazy, this took me about four days work over the course of six months to finish... (Lo siento, Monica.... I'm so happy you like it

It is fine art in my opinion - I'm just amazed that you can do that with colored pencils (if I have that right)!

it's actually a mixture of colored pencils (both prisma and crayola) and markers (water-based and alcohol based) and a dark brown gel pen for the lines XD I always wonder if other artists use only one medium... do you?

I do, it's called mixed media, and it's perfectly normal to do that sort of thing.

thankies! XD it's bristol board (also know as vellum). I find it works a lot better with the colors than other stuff i've used and it's the most sturdy (although marker paper is also fun and illustration board is just as good - just more expensive and thick)

hehe XD awesome! something i find a lot of fun is coloring markers on tope of colored pencils, or vice versa - bristol is great for layering because it's so strong
