My 3rd pony from My Little Pony Tales, Patch. She is my second favorite after Bon Bon, because of all her silly pranks and dream of being a clown.View my other ponies!

She honestly seems to LAMENT she's in a slice of life show.

I think they were going somewhere with Patch. What few fantasy elements Tales had seemed to show themselves to one pony in particular, just out of everyone's sight. The ghost of the knight from the dragon story, the Glow 'n' Show ponies... nothing like that ever reveals itself to anyone but her.
And the kicker? One episode featured the orphanage she once lived in. Her parents aren't her birth parents. In other words, the one pony who can see what others can't is the one pony where we don't actually know where she came from.
Tales also had a bit of continuity, like a torn teddy bear or something keeping its patch job instead of reverting to day-one condition or vanishing altogether once no longer needed for that plot (I remember reading that somewhere.) In other words, all this is happening in a series where, unusually for kids' shows in those days, past events continue to matter.
We'll never know now, but I think there was probably a plan to reveal the true story of the pony whose origin is unknown and who is the only one that the magic that usually remains hidden from sight shows itself to.

How do you think a season 2 would have gone?
I've had the idea of them finding a dragon egg and it hatching to their world's version of Spike and having to keep him hidden.

Maybe Patch comes from wherever the Glow 'n' Shows do, and was either lost as an infant or was sent to learn about the outside world and tell them of it someday. Maybe Brightglow has actually been keeping an eye on her because she's her birth mother but doesn't want to say it and interfere with Patch's relationship with her adoptive family? (And yeah, Brightglow, not Dazzleglow. Brightglow did all the talking, even if stories written nearly 20 years later made Dazzleglow's alicorn status a big deal. I guess if they were to write it now, Dazzleglow would be the leader, but Brightglow would be her right hand, and would still be the one who has a preexisting connection of some kind with Patch.)
