Personality: Akane is a free-spirited and playful young woman. Though generally well-intentioned, she does tend to act self-centered and gets flustered when things don’t go her way. Though she is not hostile towards outsiders, she does view them as suspicious until they have proven themselves worthy of her trust. With close friends and family, Akane is highly protective and doting, especially toward her “younger siblings.”

Bio: “Akane Katsura” was born Weixia Yin in mainland Min Hua. Her father was a powerful general and her mother was a beauty with familial ties to the emperor. Weixia spent her childhood being tutored in classical texts and etiquette, but she often skipped out of lessons to play with the family gardener.

Tragedy struck one day as one of her father’s political schemes backfired and he was assassinated. The assassins then infiltrated her home, but she was able to escape in large part due to the efforts of the gardener. The fates of the gardener and her mother, however, are uncertain.

Now in exile, Weixia was picked up by a crew of pirates off the islands of Niwa. They took pity on the lonely girl and took her into their fold. When the pirates asked her name, she replied with the alias she would become more famously known by, “Akane Katsura.” With her new family, she swashbuckled her way into adulthood, living a life of adventure free at sea. However, life changed dramatically once again when a shadow of her past re-emerged…

-She was the first female OC I ever created for an original story. Her original name was “Ember.”

-She likes high places and her hobby is climbing whatever she can find.

-Her alias, Akane Katsura, means “red tree.” “Akane” is derived from the name of a plant used to make red dye and “Katsura” is the name of a species of tree that grows plentiful in Niwa.

-Her birth name, Weixia Yin, means “Hidden smile.” She was one of the only people who could make her father smile.
