Still can't figure out why skin tones are appearing lighter than they really are.

I'm using alcohol-based markers to color then a scanner to capture the image. However, after scanning the image, the flesh colors become really light, nearly white. Can anyone give me some advice? Full journal below.

Sergey(Me): Sorry Mike, but I can't help you here(Not much of artist...). So, I understand it correctly. After scanning of your artworks they become lighter like always white? I mean, eh... How do I said it in English?

Sergey: Like, even if you try to draw a character with almost completely black skin color they will turn white or they will become tan?

Tatsuhi: Who is the girl on the left though? She looks a lot like me!

You've got it down pretty well. The skin colors become lighter after scanning. Darker colors stay the way they are, but lighter colors become even lighter.

You've actually been introduced to the woman on the left. I'll send you a note.
