Description
The first part of a triptych I did for my prelims last year. The work is intended as an examination of Romanticism, using three colours, ideals and figures which, for me, express what the Romantic Period was all about. The theme for this one is 'expression', and the figure is Franz Liszt. (Most of the Romantic composers would probably have fitted the theme, but IMHO, Liszt's lifestyle, persona, appearance, virtuosity and progressive attitude to music make him the quintessential romantic)

Thanks
Haha, when I was working on this at school, and I'd just done the face, some tit thought I was painting that Carlisle guy from Twilight so it's great to hear he looks properly Liszt-like

Welcome
I don't know who is that Carlisle guy anyway. Anybody who knows Liszt will recognize him in here

Very well done and very recognizable Liszt! Your color choice and the overall composition of your piece is very artistic and pleasing, and I especially love the direction in which Liszt's eyes are looking.

Thank you. For some reason, Liszt and red just go together for me

This has to be one of my favourite portraits of Liszt ever.
Pity for the short fingers, but the rest is perfect!!!!! The pensive expression....the smoking....everything wprks to portray the deep soulful man he was.
