Description
Work of fan art, no profit, blah blah blah, Jim Henson.This was surprisingly difficult to colour. I was to learn that navigating black areas and painting light upon dark was an entirely different procedure than I was used to. On the up side, I rather like the outcome.

This is one of the best interpretations of goblin Queen Sarah I've seen. It really captures the fantasy of the movie without moving away from the costume style. I love this so much < 3

Details keep me awake. No, honest. Once I'm done with all the interesting bits and I "just" have lots of background to fill in... this is when I start adding bizarre little creatures or strange grafitti. It amuses me. Sometimes others see it and I can only hope it amuses them too.

I'm going to have to take some tips from you. I like details but I often find I don't have the patience to make them as good as they should be in my work.
You will also have to give me some tutorials on Photoshop! I now have a copy and am hoping to start a course in September but at the moment I'm clueless.

Nope. They're both blue, but the left pupil is permanently dilated, leading to the impression that it's much darker. Check out David Bowie on wikipedia or similar and you'll see.

I love the almost-a-Greek-chiton that Sarah's wearing (the shawl draped over her arms is a beautiful color, BTW). But what is that claw resting on Jareth's shoulder?

It's a.. um... thingy... The black cape with the dark blue lining he uses in the movie has some kind of dark metal hand/claw thingy to keep it together, presumably. I kind of figured it'd need to be a lot brighter to go with this colour scheme, though, and then I lazied out on making it gnarled and bony, and... yeah. Okay, I suck.

I mean, the world at large has already decided that it's wrong to discriminate because of gender, religion, race, skin color, height (or lack thereof), socioeconomic status, marital status, national origin, hometown, accent, native language, and...what am I missing?
The way I see it, about all that's left that it DOES make sense to discriminate against is intelligence and/or maturity.

I painted light on dark on all the black areas, yeah, and that was a totally new learning experience for me!
The dress was actually inspired by an Egyptian dress, but I think it's kind of universal -- a chiton-style thing that probably popped up at some point in every culture living in a reasonably warm area. Which is fine since I wanted it to be kind of generic/classical/timeless.
