Description
A painting for Alice, because she loooves babygirly winter outerwear (especially if it's forced on you!). It's actually the same kid twice, but the summer version has no shadow... So, he must be a memory... Or she? Please don't ask if it's a boy or a girl - I DON'T KNOW X)Watercolours

I think, its a picture from springtime. The little girl lives very freely. She wear what she would like to wear. Because its warm, she wear a tschirt. And the boy was dressed from the older girl, who is watching over him. (He allways has to stick to her hand.) She like to protect him and she like to dress him cute in cuddly girls clothes. And he has to obey her.

Wow, a boy? The summer outfit is androgynous, but the winter one has red tights, skirt, and girly fur-lined boots and coat! No wonder the boy looks far less apprehensive in summer, since he's not going to be getting the same teasing he got in the colder months!
Also, in winter the boy is being led in by the hand of a woman (presumably his mom), so he apparently has no choice in the matter. Since he's not being led out in the summer, he presumably has much more freedom of action at that time.
I can't help but wonder if he was stuck in figure skating and ballet while his buddies got to play ice hockey and indoor basketball. I guess his mom just really wished she'd had a girl.

I think it was originally supposed to be his older sister, not his mom... But then again everyone has a right to interpret as they wish; there's nothing wrong with that! ^_^
By the way, figure skating and and ballet are not just for girls! Boyish boys can do it too! ^_^''

Interesting, I hadn't considered the possibility. Is it his sisters hand-me-downs he's stuck wearing? His facial expression (especially when compared to his summer persona) doesn't suggest that he's totally on board with the idea!
Of course I could be totally misreading it in any case; I imagine most kids would prefer a warm, sunny, care-free, school-free summer over a cold, gloomy, school-filled winter.
On the second point, I certainly can't argue with you there; in terms of balance, coordination, muscular endurance, and many other aspects, figure skating and ballet can be unbelievably challenging activities (assuming one takes them seriously and truly tries to master them).
