Description To keep myself from going to sleep in the middle of the day, I started this. 'tis moi!
I was planning to do something like this, with ink washes, for a while, and today seemed like the best day to do it.
Took me 5 hours and done with ink and a wee little paintbrush!
there are many things I don't like about it, but for my first ink portrait, it's pretty darn good, if i do say so myself.
I forgot to draw in my eyebrow ring...what a daft person i am
Was supposed to lay horizontal, but I thought it looked much MUCh better this way up.
Enough of my crap, go forth and mingle!

Very nice work, and for your first ink work really amazing - reminds me of some comic/graphic novel I don't remember right know. Shading and contrast work very well even though your fingers don't stand up to the standard of the rest...

I'm an art model, and the class I posed for yesterday was trying out ink for the first time. Some of those portraits were just so lovely... I really like the way ink looks, and want to try it out myself eventually.
Your piece is simply amazing. very well done, indeed.

wow! whats it like posing for hours on end? the model who was posing for us at uni had to have heaters all around or she'd cramp up.

ink was totally different to how i imagined it to be. i pictured it to come out smoothly and evenly and everything would set nicely. I was quite wrong lol

I don't really pose for hours on end. I pose for 20-30 minutes at a time, then take short breaks in between. it's not too bad, really. the instructors never ask me to get into positions that are too uncomfortable. my limbs fall asleep sometimes, but I grin and bear it. I enjoy modeling... the only thing is that a lot of times, I see all these people drawing or painting, and I'm just sitting there, dying to get up and perch myself at an easel and do what they're doing.
I have not used ink yet. I did go out and buy some, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet. I've been modelling for a summer class of high school kids and they are using ink... the results are just wonderful, I really love the look of it.

Fantastico. The wet technique is really working here.
OF course, the subject also helps to sell this one as well. Ah nature.
Ken Meyer Jr. is a guy who works like this in watercolor. I've talked with him a bit and he is a really nice guy.
Did a lot of the work for White Wolf publications. I believe he is on Epilogue and on DA as well.
You might be interested in his work as well: [link]

i am NOT looking forward to uni...but then, i am! i'm abit cautious because i had such a piss weak year last year, but then, i know what to expect (sort of) this year and can plan things in my head in advance. i want to put Bronson into my art (remember? the little cartoon guy i sent u? thats bronson) he's too cute to leave out plus i had all holidays to think up a series for him! way too much time on my hands

thank yeeee for the comment! i'll have to show u the real thing when we gather back at yoony.
it was lovely talking to u this morning! how was brekky? i'm burnt from beachin'. and there was a dead shark there...i don't know why that was important...

yay for finding moi! I shall frolick through your gallery with glee
happy day!

josiek In reply to childproof [2005-02-12 10:13:57 +0000 UTC]

Brekky was great except I ate it at 1pm...the day just flew!
Had a bit of retail therapy in Bangalow...then came home...i bought this nifty nib pen and a funky little
pencil case for uni, i'm sure they'll be highly useless, but the novelty value is worth it

Oooh dead shark? hmmm...poor sharky - make sure you put aloe on that burnt skin or you'll
look like me after i got burnt the other day, yukky and peeling...ewww
grOss...

yeah it took me long enuff to find ya... and loving DA, thanks to YOU!

talk 2 ya soon

Geeze! Ayie - sounds intense. How'd this whole incident come about in the first place?
Mine was snagged in a particularly rough pit at a show... Coulda been worse - I saw some guy get his nipple ring ripped all the way out. Oh man, I'm near sick just thinking about it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

childproof In reply to Lysistrata [2004-12-09 04:54:58 +0000 UTC]

not as violent as your story! mine got knocked around abit at my niece's birthday party and i awoke with it bleeding and torn. i was actually going to use pliers to get it out, but trying to coordinate pliers while looking in a mirror is damn hard! lol
the nipple story made me cringe! the poor guy! makes me want to curl up and tremble lol what did you get your eyebrow snagged on? i got headbutted in a mosh pit! now THAT hurt. dont know what it has to do with anything, but i thought it was an interesting short story
