Description
To keep myself from going to sleep in the middle of the day, I started this. 'tis moi!I was planning to do something like this, with ink washes, for a while, and today seemed like the best day to do it.
Took me 5 hours and done with ink and a wee little paintbrush!
there are many things I don't like about it, but for my first ink portrait, it's pretty darn good, if i do say so myself.
I forgot to draw in my eyebrow ring...what a daft person i am
Was supposed to lay horizontal, but I thought it looked much MUCh better this way up.
Enough of my crap, go forth and mingle!

Ouch that sucks... My nephews have tried their best to rip it out - with no such luck as of yet. Yeh the plier/mirror thing doesn't seem like it would be all to easy. Mine got caught onto part of some guy's thoroughly studded and spiked jacket. Not my worst injury at a show - I've got a dislocated finger and a broken tailbone on that list. Haha, one time my boyfriend's lip ring got caught on it and we had quite a time manuvering our way outa that one

That's terrific. There aren't too many ink paintings in DA, so this piece is a nice change of pace from the usual graphite stuff. The "blooms" in the washes especially affect the piece; the overall impression of you is somehow dark & delicate at the same time. Well done.

woah... never tried ink but it looks hard. this is a super example of what can be done with it though...
the detail is excellent and the time well spent. you have the proportions down well. the background is effing awesome. great job.

I'm actually glad that you didn't add the eyebrow ring. It looks much better without it. I absolutely love your use of ink in this image. It's exceptional. ^^

That's one of the reasons i hadn't done a self portrait before..i was afraid i'd be way to critical of myself, and end up stuffing up. For this, i forgot it was my face and just drew it.

I drew out light guidelines first up. Usually I dive straight in, but because i'm not too familiar with using ink (i was only introduced to it late this year), i took it slow. Very nice medium to work with, I now realise

Yet again I feel so inadequate as an "artist" with all this talent about. Excellent emotion to your work here... very moody. Reminds me of the sort of art you find in graphic novels and such. If that's your first attempt at ink certainly don't be afraid to try more very impressive work.

i discovered ink is an incredible bastard to work with in shading. I'm used to smooth shading while still working slowly. With ink, it dried as soon as it hit the paper, so i had to do alot of it in a mad dash lol!
