Description So...this is what I've been working on lately.  It's a big project for a really fun thing my congregation is doing called a Spiritual Gems Fair.  It's like a science fair but with bible related topics.  And anyone can have a display, not just kids.  This is mine.  I'm creating a replica of a 1st Century Jewish house.  This is just the building itself.  But I am going to add all kinds of things that a home like this would have in that time period.  It's really fun doing the research.  I'm in the midst of building a loom and an old clay stove!  I am also considering adding a window...but i'm not sure.

Whoops! Ignore my last question about what you were making this for, 'cause now it's answered. This sounds like a really fun little event! What are some other people making? I hope you get a prize/award, yours is very well-made!

Oh.  LOL!  Tool late.  I answered you anyway.

One family is going to do the 4 horsemen, I know.  My mom is making a bible dress up photobooth.  I know some people are going to be singing, but I'm not sure who.

Awww.  Thank you!  There is no prizes though, at least not that I'm aware of.  The get together and the bring-a-dish buffet is prize enough, and just seeing what everyone else made.

Awwww, a dress-up photobooth sounds ADORABLE! I'm sure people will love that, especially the kids. And ooh, the Four Horsemen... what media are they making them of? So many paintings I've seen of them look very (appropriately) frightening! (Have you ever seen Rodney Matthews' religious art? He has a very striking style, and he did a series on Revelation, including the horsemen.)

And yeah, getting to have fun and enjoy food and friends is definitely reward enough, I'm sure. You're welcome!

They are repainting action figures and toys.  So it's going to be a diorama!  They are also using polyester stuffing to look like clouds and tealights behind it to simulate lightning or something.
I have not!  But I really like the images in this article!  I actually tried to redraw the cover once.

Agreed!  Although, we had to postpone it for obvious reasons.  Can't do something like that and still not leave the house.

Oh wow, that is a beautiful painting, despite the frightening subject matter! I'd be curious to see it if you do ever re-draw it. Here is the other four-horsemen painting I mentioned seeing: images.app.goo.gl/1FFx7RMsucmA…

OH, wow.  Very stylized!  Quite interesting!
Seems like the pale horse is doing a lot of riding right at the moment.

Yeah, he really has a striking style! Very long and angular, but he does some super-cool stuff with it. I always liked pouring over his pictures in my teens, when I discovered them.

And yeah, I suppose it is....

1st off, this is the coolest thing I've ever seen somebody do. WOW!

2nd, LOL, this post shocked me. My world was turned upside down. I was "thrown." Not by the content. Nor by the description. Jwgirl's reply to your reply absolutely floored me. I didn't read your profile & after following you for a little while, thinking you're a really cool & talented dude...the "welcome chica" bit threw me. Then I actually looked at your profile. Crystal doesn't sound like a "cool dude's" name!?! Then I saw your profile image, I was confused at the fact I just didn't know & assumed you are a guy because of your avatar.

3rd, thanks for the life lesson. I need to stop assuming & take the time to familiarize myself with the artists I'm talking to and commenting on. Now I HAVE to check everybody's profile when I see their art.

Thank you so much!  I am really enjoying this project.  So many details to add.  I need to do some shots of the things I've made for the inside.

LOL!  I can understand why you would be confused.    My avatar is a main character in some stories I write.  And he's a dude.  I'm not though.    And my pen name is a mix of my first and last name "C" for Crystal and my last name is Hill.  So "Chill"

LOL Awesome name. I did something similar with mine technically it's Jeff 2 the Bennett. J2duhB. "Chill" sounds a lot cooler, though, pardon the pun.

I look forward to seeing more images of it. It looks great. I was surprised at these behind the scenes views. You make it look so easy It's really neat.

Oh. Nice. Lol! Well, when I made a business name it is "Chilly Studios", so yeah. I'm totally down with that pun.

Oh, wow!  Thank you so much!  It's been a fun build!  It's my second diaorama after Rover's saloon.  I'm really liking this 'dollhouse' business!

Thank you!  I'm so excited about it.  It's fun doing the research on all the little things!

We did one last year and it was amazing!  One brother modeled the Temple and then 3d printed it!  Someone else did a life sized print out of Goliath and another family built the 3 Hebrews scene out of Legos.

Thank you so much!  It has taken much longer than I expected.  This is why I haven't posted much lately.  I've been working on this house with most of my artistic time.  But I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out.  Not sure what I'm going to do with it when it's done though. It's kind of big.

Yeah, but I must say it's worth the devoted time, it's looking amazing. Hopefully you can put it on display somewhere in your house or something!

I live in a mobile home so space is pretty limited. But I'm determined to find a nice spot for it.

chill13 In reply to PhoxnSparky [2020-02-18 16:09:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah.  It will.  Heh, that's why I chose 1:18 scale.  Can you imagine how big this would be if it was made for Barbie??

I'm thinking of putting a bookshelf in my living room just for my sculpture/diorama/action figure stuff.  That might work.  Then I would have a place for future like projects too.  I want to do more rooms of the Nellie too.

The fair is in April.  I've got the main part done so at least I have that.  But there's a lot of things I want to have inside and outside.
