Rover likes to talk, it really is one of his favorite pastimes, so I figured I'd give him a chance. Any questions you have he'll be happy to answer them...although, I can't promise he will do so entirely honestly.>>>Please, no swearing<<<

Rover led the way seeming to know exactly where to go. After a fifteen minute ride they could hear bawling cattle.

The cattle were not the only thing bawling. The companions could hear the cries of children coming from the second story of the burning ranch house. There was a little girl hanging a basket of kittens out the window. Her older brother tossed the mother cat onto the roof of the veranda, but she refused to abandon her babies. The boy lowered his sister out the window by one arm.
While this was going on, Deuce and his gang were getting away with the cattle and horses.
"You boys get the kids; I'll ride back to town and get some help for a bucket brigade!" Molly ordered.

Rojan: *smiles in greeting* What's up? You're Rover, huh? Dr. Cloud mentioned you. I got a bit of a memory problem *taps on his own forehead* and he said that you do too... So...guess I should ask a question. *notices Rover's hat* What's the most daring thing you've ever done to save your hat?

Rover: *chuckles* The Doc is such a kidder. Makes stuff up all the time. This brain right here is a steel...*blinks* Um...steel...um. *quickly changes the subject*
There was the time when the King of Millinarious decided it would make a mighty fine crown and had one of his spies snatch it off me in the middle of the night. Needless to say, I wants havin' any of that. Just cuz the fellah is the ruler of three entire solar systems don't give him the papers for theivery! I marched right into that castle, never mind the fifty guards!

Rojan: *is able to read Rover's emotion and senses that his memory is a sensitive subject for Rover and doesn't push him any farther on the subject* *his eyes get wide* Seriously? What happened next?!

Rover: *grins at his enthusiasm and hams it up more* They tried to coral me before I even got to that gate, but I was having none of it. No sir! I ain't about to let nobody snatch my hat right offa my head! I switched out my forceshield and plowed through the lot of 'em like a thunderball player! I pushed them big old doors open meanin' nothin' but business.

Rojan: *smiles widely, showing sharp canine teeth* Whoa! Sounds dangerous! So how did you get your hat back without getting killed?!

Rover: *shrugs* Turns out the little fellah, wasn't so bad. He was balding, really wanted to cover it up. So I offered him a look at the crate of headgear from Chapo 4. Can you believe he wanted the whole crate?

Rojan: *laughs* The whole crate? Seems like a lot of hats for one guy...

Rover: not if that one guess has five heads.

Rojan: Well, that would explain why he needed the whole crate... *blurts out the question so fast that it seems like it hadn't even fully formed in his head yet* Why's your hat so special to you, anyway?

Rover: *blinks at the question, caught off guard, but pulls a carefree grin. He pulls his hat off and displays it like the crown jewels* Had this little beauty as long as I can remember. It's human made. Cowboy hat. *throws an arm around Rojan's shoulders* Ever hear of cowboys? Why they're the biggest, bravest humans you ever laid eyes on. Heroes is what they are!

Rojan: Oh, yeah, I've heard of them! They're great. Every time I visited Earth as a little kid, my grandpa would pull me up on his lap and we'd watch a bunch of old cowboy movies that he used to watch as a kid. I didn't understand some of it though. I was raised on Scy'kir III, so I didn't know much about Earth. *jabs a thumb into his chest proudly* I'm half human, though, so I really liked watching Earth movies.

Rover: *his eyebrows shoot up and he points a startled finger at the little blue guy* You? You're half human?!

Rojan: *looks startled momentarily, but gives Rover a lopsided, somewhat frightened grin nevertheless* Um...uh..yeah... Why?

Rover: *tries to look unaffected* No...no reason. Looks like we're related!

Rojan: *smiles* Yeah, I guessed that you were human. *notices Rover's arm* Although you seem to be missing a piece...

Rover: You're the first. *a massive grin explodes across his face at the mention of his arm* Yep! Got this puppy when I got myself caught in the Kyrainian alps. Ever see carnivorous snow?

Rojan: *momentarily looks like he's questioning Rover's sanity, but soon recovers from his shock and grins, eager to hear the story* Snow? That...eats people? No way...

Rover: *his grin growing incredibly larger with a cocky raised eyebrow* Yes way. Why I landed in the valley between the two biggest mountains on the planet. Can't land anything with electronics on the peaks, they're considered sacred, something about the clouds. It was a five day hike up to the villiage. Little place but, they had quite the fusion crystal mine."

Listen, Chill, I know you're going to think this is a weird and very "nit-picky" comment, so please take no offense ... here goes: your illustrations of Rover are not consistent when it comes to his chest hair. In other pictures it's lower down but here it's up near the base of his neck and peeks through the top of his shirt. Rover has very bushy eyebrows so it's likely he's a pretty hairy guy, but maybe you haven't given any thought what his chest hair pattern is like.

LOL! No offense taken. He IS a pretty hairy guy but I haven't made a definate map of his chest hair. I should be more consistent. I'll have to pay attention to a little more. Thank you for the observation.

Was it hard to adjust to having Flyspurr on board? What about any of the other crew? Any problems or hilarious misunderstandings?

Rover: Little Blue? Naw. He's a good pal, does more than his share of work too. Besides, he needed to come. He'd be lost without me.
Nana, on the other hand, bless her old heart, too a spell to get used to. See, for a long while it was just Blue, the Doc and me. We were kind if used to doin' things our own way. When Nana up and decided to come with us she thought all us young pups needed some house rules. I don't need to tell you that we all didn't take to that right off. Just about the second she stepped into the ship she started tidying up like a tornado in reverse! Which was mighty nice of her, I suppose but there was a spell when none of us could find nothin! I couldn't find my hat for two days! Two DAYS! Turns out she'd put it in the corridor closet. It took a bit of gettin' use to...heh..and banning her from cleanin' sickbay. She kept wanting to wash out the Doc's specimine jars. But we're tickled to have her on board.

What's the most beautiful scenery you've encountered?

Rover: That is quite a poser. There are so many purdy places in this universe: the Rainbow Nebula, the iridescent mountains of I'd, the living plains of Dirrus 4. But there's one place that comes to mind in particular. It weren't big or nothin'. Blue and I had got ourselves a bit turned around in the jungles of Andoring and had been wanderin' for quite a spell. Night had fallen and you couldn't see a cotton pickin' thing under the canopy of trees. No moons, no stars. Just black and the calls of the forest. We stepped through a stand of reeds and there it was. Just a little pond, not much bigger than a summer kiddie pool. The water was a phosphorescent blue, glowin' away and casting a dim light on the circle of reeds and stones around it. Above hung curtains of ribbon vines, fluttering as if there were a breeze. An dancing above the water like a fairy hoedown were these little glow bugs. Every color you can imagine and some you can't. And they were singin'. Real quiet like. Sounded like soft glass bells tinklin' in the distance. We were plumb tuckered out from all that wanderin', so we just sat, quiet, watchin' and listenin'.

So Rover what do you think is the most trouble you've been in on a planet?

Rover: Now there, pardner, is a story! The biggest humdinger of a story started out by pickin' flowers. *grins* That's right. We had found a patch of sand trilliums on an uninhabited desert planet. Purdy little things, kinda a cross between a rock formation and a plant and the most prized accesories in Aldurian marriage boquets. Anywhoo there we were, Me, Blue and the Doc, minding our own business, and kinda gettin' to sweatin' a little when I see somethin' movin off to my left. Then to the right. The sand was a'movin' but not a gust of wind on the whole blame planet. The Doc was the first to notice them little jagged fins slicing through the sand. *leans forward and lowers his voice ominously* That's when I realized we were dealing with sand sharks... A whole school of them. You ever seen a sand shark? No? Well, consider yourself lucky. They're massive, the size of small shuttlecraft and an appitite like a black hole. And we were dealing with a good dozen of 'em. And there we were, out in the open, smack dab in the middle of the desert with nothin' but sand for miles...surrounded.

Oh man, how did you work your way out of that one?

Rover: Well, we were in quite the fix, with sharks all around us ready to tear us limb from limb, and the shuttle a good half-mile off. There was nowhere to go. I cracked the lazer cannon out of ol' lefty *pats his mechanical left arm with pride* and started a'firing. But bein' from a desert planet the heat didn't phase 'em much. Just spooked 'em a might. We were right sure we were gonners when the Doc spotted a little patch of rocks 'bout a hundred yards off. It weren't much. Just the hope that maybe, just maybe these here sharks were confined to sand travel. If we were lucky and they didn't have proper legs they might not be able to climb them rocks. Well, I fired the blazes at the ground and managed to shoo 'em just enough so we had a hole to make a break through. We took off like greased lightning. Bein' the captain, I lagged behind a step or two, trying to keep the polecat's back as much as I could. Blue and the Doc made it to the rocks, climbin' up the side and I was only a few steps away when I went down like a shot, my right leg sinkin' into the sand. I'd been caught.

Nope not a one, unless you start talking about a time where you got locked in a room full mannequins staring at you *shudders* nothing gives me the creeps more than faceless statues looking in your general direction...but please...continue

Rover: *looks blankly there for a second then clears his throat* There I was, waist deep in sand with jaws around my leg like a gravity clamp! I'll show you the scars later. I could tell by the look in Doc and Little Blue's eyes that they thought I was done for. But I wasn't about to let no land fish get the best of me! Why I whipped out my good ol' grappling hook and fired it at them rocks, got a good purchase on em and reeled myself in, shark and all. Once I was up on the rocks with Mr. Shark halfway out of the sand still a'bitin' my leg, it only took a good shot in the face from a stun pistol to convince him that I wasn't good eatin'. Fortunately we were right about them sharks bein' confined to the sand. We were safe for the moment. But we wasn't quite out of the frying pan yet. We were still in the middle of nowhere on an iddy bitty patch of rocks, surrounded by hungry sharks. And although, it didn't phase me none I as pretty mangled up to boot.

Rover: Well that all depends on what you mean by 'horse'. I've taken on the hextipedal broncos in the Xi rodeo. I've ridden a wind east on the plains of Scrubb 5. Why, I've even flown Pegusus lizard through the valcanic canyons! *glances away briefly and kicks a bit at the ground* But a good ol' honest to goodnes horse, well, that's one of the first things I plan on doin' when I find Earth.
