Description I just read a book with two characters that reminded me SO MUCH of Rover and Flyspur.  (which is why these two bear a striking resembalance to them)

Gordon Korman's book Swindle.

Griffin Bing, The Man With the Plan, is furious when he is swindled out of a million-dollar baseball card by yet another condescending adult.  So he comes up with a brilliant plan to get back what he feels is rightfully his, save his family, get revenge on the evil collectible shop owner and fight for kids everywhere all at one time.  His tiny best pal, Ben, doesn't want any part of this plan at first.  But when he finds out it is the only way to keep his best friend from moving a million miles away he is in.

I'm serious...as I read this I thought 'if Flyspur was human and their adventures were set on earth this book would be about them'.

Hi Ho Hyperdrive suggestion aside.  This book is hilarious and full of fun characters, adventure, surprises and one massive doberman.  READ IT!

This is so awesome! Also, this is the fanart I've seen of Swindle!  I absolutely love the books, though I've only read from the first to Jackpot.  But I can't wait to read Unleased!

Thank you so much! I absolutely LOVED these books and am excited for the next one. I've read all of them except for the newest Christmas one. Griffin and Ben remind me a lot of the two main characters in a story I'm writing. So I can't help but see them looking a bit alike.

You're most welcome!
Hehe, nice!

Hopefully, I'll draw of the Swindle team of what I think they look like, soon!

You should! It's funny and the characters are so much fun! Especially the two main ones, Griffin and Ben. Griffin is such a go-getter, and Ben is such a good pal even though he thinks his friend is a little crazy.

I've read this before. Brilliant book. I actually have Zoobreak, and I can attest to the fact that everything Gordon Korman writes is pure awesomeness.

Would it happen to have a pen on the cover? (I might be thinking of something totally different...)

The one I read has a doberman with a stylized house in the moonlight in the background.  But there might be another publishing....

It really is! This particular one was kind of a kids version of a heist story. It's the first of a series of books about Griffin's outrageous plans. Started the second one called Zoobreak which as been great so far.

Thank you! I just couldn't help basing Griffin on Rover, they really are so alike!

Haha that does sound quite a bit like Rover and Flyspur!  I remember reading "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles and seeing my characters, Arthur and Finny.

Don't you love it when that sort of thing happens?  It's even funnier when you see it in real life.

Technically the two characters from this book are not mine. But they reminded me so much of Rover and Flyspur it was scary.

So glad you're enjoying them! Hope to have a whole book one day.

Such a fun book! My roommate and I are were reading it aloud together. We're on the second book now.
The personalities and relationship between these two are so close to Rover and Flyspur it's ridiculous. Wasn't expecting that when I started reading. I thought it was going to be all from the point of view of the dog.......like Bill Wallace's books.

Um...The Watchdog and the Coyotes, Snot Stew, Totally Disgusting. Most of his books are written from the animal's point of view. Watchdog and the coyotes is about a great Dane, the other two are about kittens.
